Chapter Fifty Three
-Six years later-
Have you ever shared a silence with someone and it was so comfortable and peaceful and you just knew that they were the only person you could feel like that with?
That the whole world didn't matter anymore and it was all quiet. The whole world stopped spinning for those minutes or hours of pure comfort.
Arms wrapped around each other. Or hands locked in each other whilst driving down a road.
You couldn't be more at peace with yourself by not speaking.
Words weren't needed.
Kisses weren't needed.
The only thing you needed was that other person by your side.
In that very moment you know that that person, is your one and only.
Falyn was my one and only.
All the peaceful and plentiful silences we shared was enough to keep me content for the rest of my life.
Sometimes I think I'll hear someone talk like her, and I'll turn with a smile to see if it is her, but it never is.
Then the moment goes dull.
Silence.
The times that we had a comfortable silence it was the best silence that could've ever taken place on this damned earth. But now, the silence is deafening and won't stop.
It's pulling me down, further and further. But right as I'm slipping away, a small pale hand breaks through the ice and pulls me back to shore- and puts life back into me with their comforting arms.
"Daddy, why are you always so quiet?"
"I'm just thinking"
"About mummy?"
"Mhmm"
"Did you guys ever just sit in silence like we do?"
"Oh, all the time Brynli. All the time"
And in that moment silence took over and through the clouds, a hand was placed on my shoulder and I knew. She was there for everything. She was sharing that moment with us.
Silence.
