Chapter Two

Leaving a place that you have lived in for almost twenty years, is hard. But moving to a new place you've never been, is harder. All new people, new scenes, styles, languages, currency, ect.

It's not like taking your little canoe and going across the lake, this scenario its taking a cruise ship from one side of the world to the other.

I inwardly sighed and looked around the large airport. Not many people were here. Some men were probably going to work, seeing as how they had briefcases, luggage, and suits. Small families scattered here and there, more then likely going on vacation.

"Flight 268, leaving for London, England in two minutes-" The lady on the speaker continued to announce other flights to exotic places or busy cities.

I looked around the airport one last time before seeing people line up to the gates.

Dakota and I were sitting in the waiting chairs with our bags and less then half full airport coffee in our hands, ready to board the plane and fly to our new home.

"I can't wait to get to our new apartment!" Dakota said looking over to me. I smiled and nodded in agreement. We quickly sipped the last bit of coffee and chunked the cups into the nearby trash can.

"Flight 268, now boarding."

"That's us." I said breathing in deeply. I was nervous, I was leaving my past and entering the future, but you gotta start somewhere new when really starting your life, right?

Dakota and I got on the plane and put our bags in the console above us, sat down, and buckled up before the plane stared off. I held her hand the whole time because I haven't flown before and I was terrified of heights, but I wanted to see everything in the air so I sat next to the window.

It was about a 10 hour flight, so I fell asleep on her about 2 hours into the flight and woke up just before we landed. I nudged her and luckily she woke up. I looked around and there wasn't a lot of people on the plane.

"Plane will be touching ground in five minutes." The pilot called over the intercom.

I yawned and looked out the window. It was beautiful! I loved it more than Texas already. Lots of buildings and other large places were scattered around and the sky held a pretty color. You don't see much in most parts of Texas. Cow pastures, woods, and open land but not all of Texas was like that. Just the part we lived in was mostly that.

The plane arrived at the airport and everybody grabbed their luggage and headed off the plane. We stepped off the plane, into the warm airport and then out the door again into the cold air. The breeze felt good. It wasn't like Texas at all. I love the cold, and hate the hot, so I felt more comfortable here. Dakota hailed a cab, we loaded our luggage into the back, got in and gave the driver our address.
