Luke's POV

Ashton called us all for dinner and the girls jump up from the couch and run to the table, taking the seats opposite of Ashton.

Jake gets up and takes a seat on one side of her and I take the seat on the other. I look around and realize Michelle isn't here. In fact, I haven't seen her since she first arrived with the kids.

"Where's your mom?" I ask, looking at Ashton curiously.

"She went out." She responds as if it's normal. But then again, I guess it is. But seriously? Her children just got here after 2 weeks and she's gone? That's kind of ridiculous.

Ashton brushes it off and says the blessing before serving each child and me a plate and making a small one for herself.

The little girls devour their food, telling us how good it is, and Ashton chuckles a bit. "Manners! Girls you're getting food in your hair!!" Ashton laughs out before pulling 2 hair ties from her wrist and tying the girls hair back allowing them to finish their meals.

I take a bite of my food and almost moan at how good it is. "Oh my god Ash, where did you learn to cook like this?" I ask with a mouthful.

"Practice I guess." She says with a smile, looking down. I notice she still hasn't eaten anything. I place my hand on her thigh, causing her to look up at me. "Eat. Just a little. Please?" I mouth to her, not letting any of the kids see her.

She takes a deep breath, nodding before picking up her fork. She stabs a piece of the chicken, cringing as she brings it to her mouth, taking a small bite before setting it back down.

I smile at her, patting her leg and letting it be. She needs to eat, but I can't push it all at once.

I finish my meal while she uses her fork to push hers around on her plate. Chatting with the kids with a big smile. Pretending everything is okay for their sake.

I really love that about her. No matter how unhappy she is, she won't stop until she is sure her family won't turn out like her. She does everything she can to make others happy while she's on the brink of suicide. She's so strong. And beautiful. But she doesn't even know it.

"What about you Luke?" I hear Jakes voice from beside Ashton who is now holding Courteney and feeding her.

"Huh? What? I-I'm sorry." I stuttered out.

Everyone laughed a bit before Jake repeated the question. "What do you want for chirstmas?"

Ashton looked over, paying close attention to my answer. "Umm. I don't know actually." I say.

I've never been really good at asking for gifts. I mean, I have everything I need. Parents that are there for me and put a roof over my head and feed me.

They supply me with everything I need and then some more and I'm beyond grateful for that. I can never come up with anything I need or want because they've already given it to me.

"Well you better think about it. I have to turn in Sky and Addi's list to Santa soon!" Ashton says and winks at me.
I look over to the 2 girls smiling wide, empty plates in front of them and hands covered in the sauce from the chicken.

Ashton smiles once more before sending the girls up to wash their hands and get ready for a shower then places Courteney in Jakes arms and starts cleaning up the table.

"Jake, you start school tomorrow. So I need your bag packed, clothes out and an alarm set after Court falls back asleep, understood?" Ashton says quickly while carrying a pile of dishes to the kitchen.

"Got it." He says standing up, leaving the table and walking into the living room, taking a place on the couch, rocking Court back and forth.

I take the leftover food from the table and wrap them before putting them in the fridge. Then I take cleaner and wipe down the table while Ash finishes washing the dishes. She dries and puts away the dishes before turning around and pulling me in for a hug.

"I don't think you understand how much you help me. It's 6:30 and the girls are already getting ready to shower. Without help, I'm normally just now finishing dinner. And thank you for not pushing anything at dinner. I really appreciate it. Everything you're doing."

"I won't push you, but I want you to try to eat more. Okay? And I love helping out. Your family is so sweet. And so are you." I say, planting a kiss on her lips.

She pulls away after a few seconds mumbling something about making sure one of the girls is in the shower.

She's walking up the stairs when I hear a giggle behind me. I turn around to see Addi peaking around the wall. "You kissed my sissy!" She's says laughing and smiling.

I walk toward her wiggling my fingers before picking her up and tickling her stomach. She starts squealing and laughing. "Lukey stop!!!!" She cries out between laughs.

I remove me fingers from her stomach and hold her against my hip, her legs wrapped around my waist, then I kiss her on the forehead. "And now I kissed you too!" I say smiling and poking her cute little nose.

She fakes a gasp, holding her hand to her chest, "I'm telling Ashy!!!" She says laughing.

"Oh no please don't! She'll be mad at me!!!" I say setting her on the ground, getting to my knees and fake pleading. She laughs again and pokes my dimple.

"I like those. Sissy has them to, only when she smiles big, but I don't see them a lot anymore." She says softly.

"I'm trying to make it so we can see them everyday." I say back, just as softly.
