Evan's POV
They finally let us back to see Ashton. It's a good thing because I thought Luke was going to punch the poor man.
After making sure Ashton was okay and telling Luke not to leave her side, or bring up the fact that social services is at her house right now, I make my way back to her house.
I have to make sure all the kids are okay. I left Court with Jake and sent the girls into his room before going down the stairs when I saw Michelle hit Ashton.
That boy is real strong. Ashton shields them all pretty well, but she knows she can't hide it from them forever and he has to know to be prepared for the crash.
He knows what's going on. Ashton just likes to let him pretend it's all okay. She wants him to at least pretend to be a normal teenager.
When I arrive at the house, social services is already there. I run up the steps and onto the front porch. I open the door and see them all sitting on the couch, looking terrified.
Michelle has a drunken smile staining her face and is standing in front of a large man.
Jake looks at me knowingly and Addi and Sky both have tears in their eyes.
A tall woman with dark brown hair stands before them.
"Evan!" Addi yells, getting up and running to me, latching onto my legs. Sky follows suit. I pick them both up and tell them everything will be okay.
I won't let them get split up. Ashton is basically raising them anyway. Her mother being noticed for the drunk she is shouldn't matter. We can work this out. It's okay.
After calming them down a little bit, I place them back on the couch on either side of Jake who is holding Court. I then ask the social service lady if we can speak in the kitchen.
"You can't split these kids up, you know that right?" I ask, slightly hopeful.
"Sir, their mother was found innocent. I'm on my way out." She says with an almost bored tone.
I walk into the living room where 3 crying children and my baby sit huddled together on the couch, while their drunk mother stands chuckling over in the corner.
"You called social services? Pathetic. It's not like I did anything wrong. It's called tough love. Well, not love cause you know." She slurs, walking out of the room.
I ignore her comments and pile the kids into my car to go back to see Ashton.

Luke's POV
I'm sitting on the chair beside Ashton's hospital bed. Neither of us has said a word since I've been in here. I have been holding her hand as she stares into my eyes. No words need to be said just yet.
We both know what happened. We both know social services is there now. All there is left to do is wait.
"Luke?" Ashton speaks up, her voice wobbly.
"Yeah baby? What's wrong?" I ask, concern laced in my voice.
"They're at my house now aren't they? And they're going to take them all away from me right?" She asks, breaking eye contact to look at our laced hands.
"They're at your house now. But I won't let them take them away." I say steadily, hoping to God that I can follow through with that promise.
She looks up at the ceiling then closes her eyes. "Don't make promises you can't keep." She says softly.
Just then, the door opens again and Evan comes in holding Addi and Sky in his arms with Jake walking behind him carrying Court.
As they enter the room, Ashton's entire face lights up. "Ashyyy!" Addi yells, jumping down from Evan's arms and onto the hospital bed.
I see Ashton cringe a bit, but ignores the pain for her sister once again. Addi latches onto Ashton and immediately starts crying.
"There was a scary lady at the house and she talked to mommy and when mommy came back she was laughing scary. She told me that was a mistake and you were a mean girl so I told her she was probably thinkin of someone else cause you're not mean and she yelled at me and told me I was a bad girl to then Evan came and mommy got one of those drinks that makes her sick again and left. Then Evan told me you were in the hospital and I thought you were dead and I was scared cause I don't want you to be dead. And Evan was crying and he doesn't cry so I knew it was bad and I don't.." She ranted on before Ashton cut her off.
"Listen baby. Listen. Shhh. It's okay. I'm okay. I'm not dead. I just had one of those panic attacks I used to get. It's okay. Evan was just worried about me. Crying is okay. Mommy will get better one day. I know you don't remember, but she used to be an okay mother. Not the best, but I love her just the same." Ashton says in a soothing voice, hugging Addi and Sky who had climbed into her arms and well.
"Lukey is crying to!" Sky says softly, moving to hug me.
"I'm okay baby. I just don't want anything bad to happen to you guys." I say honestly.
The doctor then enters the room, telling us there's to many people and she may be overwhelmed. "I also have some news." He adds softly.
Evan, Jake and I leave the room to speak to the doctor.
"I have some bad news." He says once we reach the hallway.
