Luke's POV

I see the corners of her lips twitch up a but after my little speech and I know she's going to eat. I smile a bit as I see her nod in agreement and reach for some of the food.

I know it's not going to happen fast and I know she may fall down again and maybe even another time after that, but in the end, it will all be worth it. This week is dedicated to chill and recovery.

We finish the food, well I finished the food. Ashton only ate a little, but that's okay because she ate and she held it down.

"Thank you baby girl." I say softly.

"For what?" She asks just as softly.

That's when I realize even I don't know. Just for being her I guess? I chuckle at my thoughts before answering, "Honestly? I don't even know. For everything maybe. Thank you for eating for one. But also just for being you. For being with me. For being strong. And beautiful. And perfect. Just.. just for being you." I say as I try to put my thoughts into words.

It didn't work so well, but there isn't words for how I feel about her. She is the definition of perfect and I don't know how to make her realize it.

I'm still wrapped in my thoughts when I feel two small arms place themselves around me and her head on my shoulder. "I'm the one that should be thanking you." She says softly into my shoulder. "Thank you." She adds and I can feel her smile into my shoulder.

I chuckle softly. "Anything for you love." I say with a smile. "Let's go to the beach."

She looks up and smiles before agreeing and detaching herself from my chest. Far to soon, she walks away to find her bag and change into her swimsuit. I do the same.

Finally, we're walking toward the beach hand in hand. It's about 7 and the sun should be setting soon. All the little kids and families are gone. The beach is empty and it's absolutely perfect.

Ashton's POV

We're walking to the beach hand in hand and I couldn't be happier. Luke makes me happy. Everything about him is absolutely perfect.

When we get close to the water I smile slightly. Letting go of Luke's hand, I take off the big tshirt I was wearing as a cover-up and set it down along with our bag.

I feel Luke's stare on my body and as uncomfortable as it makes me, I try to ignore it. Slowly, I walk toward the water. When I'm close enough that the water will only barely hit my feet when it pushes up, I sit down and lean back on my arms.

Moments later, I can still feel Luke's stare on me, but he hasn't come to sit by me either. I stand up and turn around to see Luke running at me. I look at him confused for a moment then turn around and see the water. I look back at him and notice the smirk on his face. Then, I take off running.

"Nononono Luke it's gonna be cold oh my God no Luke don't do it oh my God oh holy hell don't do it Luke!!" I scream out as I run away, not nearly as fast as him. I'm pretty fast, but the kid has long legs.

Soon enough, he catches up with me and throws my body over his shoulder almost effortlessly. "Ready baby?" He asks with a chuckle.

"LUUUUKKEE DON'T DO IT." I attempt again as I pound on his back.

Then, I feel his large hand leave a firm slap on my ass, "You're not in charge here darling. Be careful. I'll have to punish you." He says with a slight growl to his voice.

I gasp.

How the hell do you react to that?

Is this some 50 shades of gray shit?

"I was kidding baby girl." He says as he starts cracking up laughing.

I release a breath I didn't know I was even holding in. "Jerk!" I yell while laughing. He is still moving deeper into the water, but my body has yet to touch the water. A little smirk reaches my lips as I reach down a little and leave a slight slap to his bum.

I hear him chuckle a bit before he starts talking again, "Oh, you'll pay for that doll." He says and I can almost feel the smirk on his face before I feel his shoulder move under me and my body goes flying toward the water.

"LUKE!!" I scream out before my back hits the surface first and I close my eyes and mouth before I go under completely.

After a couple seconds, I resurface to see Luke with a small smile on his face. I splash some water in his face before turning and running away, knowing he will splash back.

He catches up to me easily and turns me around. I crash into his chest and look up to his eyes. His lips hit mine and his tongue instantly darts out to slide across my bottom lip. I smile against his lips and I can't force the smile away.

Soon he's smiling as well. Our lips aren't even moving anymore as they are stuck in wide smiles. I pull back just enough to separate our lips. Our foreheads rest against one another and our noses brush slightly as we stare into each other's eyes.

Then, I feel his ankle wrap around the back of my legs and knock me back into the water. I fall backwards once more. I immediately begin swimming back up and finally reach the top of the water and stand back up with an eye roll and a fake 'disapproving' smile.

Nothing could make this better.

Except maybe my dad.

Last time I went to the beach my mother and dad were together still. My dad was healthy and alive. My family was happy. Addi and Sky weren't there of course, but my dad was.

My dad has always been my dad, but my mother will never earn the title of mom. That's something people with happy parents will never understand. The difference between having parents and having a mom and dad.

I miss him so much.

Shut up. Don't let memories ruin this for you.

Breathe.

In. Out. In. Out.

I slowly pull myself out of my thoughts and try to ignore them.

I look back to see Luke looking down at me with worry filled eyes. "What are you thinking about love?" He asks softly.

"Nothing more important than right now. With you." I breathe out even softer.
