Luke's POV

"We need to talk." Ashton says softly.

"Sure. About what." I respond casually.

"Your mom." She says.

My breath hitches and I don't want to respond, but I nod slightly.

"What about her?" I ask, deciding to play dumb.

"Luke. You know what I'm talking about." She says with a sigh.

I know what she's talking about. I just don't want anything to do with him. Asshole doesn't deserve my mum. I nod, letting her know I'll talk. Even thinking about him makes me mad. He came in with a big smile on his face and tried to hug me and was all like "Hello son." I'm not your fucking son.

"Have you given him a chance?" She asks, coming closer.

I shake my head no, not saying anything aloud.

"Why not?" She asks.

I just shrug my shoulders. I don't know why I haven't given him a chance. I just don't want to. He is not my father. He never will be.

"He deserves a chance. I know he'll never be your father. I know he may not deserve it and he may turn out to be a real ass, but right now, does he make your mother happy?" She asks.

I think for a moment. She has been happier. She's smiles everytime she talks about him. But her smile fades when I just grunt in response, not even trying to hide my anger. I nod my head slightly, silently agreeing.

"We should have dinner with them. We should all sit down and talk it out for a bit. I think you should meet him and I know I want to."

"You're right." I admit. I let out a breath of defeat.

"I know. I'm always right. Remember, I'm female, that's just how that works." She says with a sarcastic smile on her face.

"How could I forget?" I chuckle, stepping closer and placing my hands on her tiny waste. She leans in and places a short kiss on my lips before turning making her way to the couch. I follow slowly behind.

She takes a seat and I sit beside her, allowing her to rest her head on my shoulder. We turn on the TV and seconds after we get settled down watching some show about brothers who fight demons that she seems to love, her phone buzzes from the other room.

She sighs, but stands up nonetheless. She brings her phone to the couch and settles back down before typing in her code. 6669 because 'Satan and sex.' I chuckle a bit then glance down at her phone, expecting it to be Evan.

It's not though. It's an unknown number and the message reads,

Hello beauty.

He huffs slightly and closes the messaging app, turns off her phone and curls further into my chest.

"Who was that?" I ask, feeling a little jealous, even though she didn't respond.

"Zach. Some guy I met when I went to the beach this morning that won't take a hint." She says, rolling her eyes.

I nod, chuckling a bit. "Do I need to kick his ass for you?" I ask jokingly.

"Please, I could kick his ass myself. It's all about nerve endings and anatomy was my favorite class sophomore year." She says, her voice laced with sass and sarcasm. I'm slightly shocked. She took anatomy as a sophomore? I decide not to question it. I shouldn't be surprised, she does stuff like that all the time.

I chuckle lightly but I still can't help wondering, "How did he get your number?" I ask.

"He asked, I figured it wasn't a big deal and he would probably forget about it before he even got home, so I gave it to him." She said softly, looking into my eyes.

I nod lightly. Still kinda jealous, but she didn't really do anything wrong. I try to turn my attention back to the TV, but her phone buzzes again. I can't help but roll my eyes.

She opens the next message and this one reads,

Wanna meet up later? Hang at the beach? Get some dinner?

She starts typing, much to my surprise. I suck in and sharp breath, but relax when I see the message.

Sorry, I'm actually with my BOYFRIEND rn and will be until we leave. I'm on a vacation that my BOYFRIEND planned and I think it would be wrong to go out with another guy.

That's when I chuckle a bit.

Only seconds after she sends it, her phone buzzes once more.

Don't be that way, love. You didn't seem so fond of him at the beach. I could treat you so much better.

I see anger twist onto her face. Her eyebrows crease together and her lips jut out in a slight pout before her fingers begin flying across the keyboard.

Wtf are you talking about? I didn't seem so fond of him?? Did you not notice how everytime you said something, you got a short answer, that's because Luke was all that was in my head. How about everytime you got close to me, I stepped away? Because I love my boyfriend and I couldn't imagine my life without him. I told you no. I only even gave you my number because you looked like a player that would forget about it by the end of the day. I didn't think you'd use it and I feel bad telling people no because then they feel bad. Quit trying to get in the middle of things. Luke treats me better than anyone ever has and you couldn't even begin to make me feel the way he does! Quit being cocky and just delete my number.

Woah. Never seen Ashton get that mad. But it's sweet. "Do you really think that?" I ask, pulling her attention from her phone.

"Oh. Were you reading that?" She asks, looking down and blushing slightly.

"Don't be embarrassed. I love that you feel that way about me. And I couldn't imagine my life without you either." I say, leaning in to a soft kiss.
