Be Calm.

Breathe.

Don't say anything you wouldn't want others to say to you.

Talk to the person you're trying to save. Don't mention people in the past or past memories, focus on the present. Give them advice on what to do, or try and put yourself in their shoes.

Comfort them in all ways possible and if that's not good, just let them cry on your shoulder and don't say anything.
