We hear the beginning notes of the anthem starting. The anthem that we hear for fourteen years straight in school, the anthem we all know the lyrics to.
We stand still as the anthem plays. But instead of being silent, we open our mouths and sing as one. It doesn't matter if our voices are high pitched, squeaky or in a monotone. Today is not the day to care. It isn't our day. Its their day.

Someone gives a command and riffles are shot together. Once. Twice. Three times. They're loud and scary, but if it was just any other day we would all be running for the hills. But today none of us even flinch.
A lady with a beautiful voice speaks a Hymn, but none of us really understand the meaning. But that's okay, its still not our day. Its theirs.
After that, they finally say the words everyone has been waiting for.

Since the beginning of the ceremony, everyone is now dead silent. Its amazing that we're all able to set aside our differences and gather around to honor the fallen. I can't help but think about how at this one day a year, for two minutes everyone stops.
We all stand as one. We all breathe as one. We think about those we've lost. We think about those who've survived. We all think about life would of been like back then. How easy we have it because of them and their sacrifices.

Before we know it, its over. Until next year.
But just because we take one day of the year to remember doesn't mean we don't think about them on the other 364 days of the year.
We will never forget them and the sacrifices they made.

If you're Canadian, American, Russian, French, German or European and haven't taken a moment of silence for our fallen soldiers during WW1, I want you to take this moment to have two minutes of silence.
I also so desperately wish that I could of written more, but I guess there isn't enough words to express how grateful I am to those who sacrificed their lives for us.
I won't forget, that I promise.
