Alex stared at the open ring box on the floor, mouth agape.
"You really do care" Alex whispered, slowly making her way to the box and picking it up.
Why did I let you leave? Alex asked herself, staring at the ring.
She dropped the box in her pocket and ran outside, looking for Tobin or her car.
Nothing.
Alex hurried to Tyler's apartment.
She wasn't there either, and Alex was a little relieved at that, but still eager and worried. She drove around the city like a madwoman.
Alex tried to call Tobin, but it was Tobin's turn now not to answer.
An idea flashed like a lightbulb in Alex's head.
People who are devoted to God go to church to confess when they've done something wrong.
Alex hurried to the church. Today was a Sunday. She didn't know how she would find Tobin in the crowd of people.
She went inside the church, and looked around. People stood at the pews, listening to the priest.
Alex spotted Tobin at the back, standing against the wall, hands folded in front of her.
Alex slowly made her way over until she was standing next to Tobin.
"Peace be with you" The priest said.
"And with your spirit" The rest of them answered.
"Let us give each other a sign of peace" The priest said, and everyone turned to shake hands with each other.
Alex turned to Tobin.
"Alex? I thought you didn't go to-" Tobin began, but Alex was too busy wrapping her arms around Tobin's neck and kissing her lips.
"Lets bring peace between each other" Alex said, and Tobin nodded.
"Im sorry" Tobin said.
"I know, and I'm sorry also" Alex said.
"Sorry about what?" Tobin asked.
"I don't know. It just seemed like the right thing to say" Alex smiled.
They kissed each other again. It was something that they missed for a while.
The mass continued, and they finished it together.
Alex pulled out the ring box, and handed the ring to Tobin, who put it on her finger.
"Alex Morgan, will you marry me?" Tobin asked.
"For as long as I will live" Alex grinned. "Yes"
They kissed again.
Leaving church hand in hand, Tobin didn't understand how lucky she got. To have Alex come to her, and save their relationship, that, was amazing. Just seeing her in church with her made Tobin excited. It made her believe that Alex was capable of loving her again, even after the terrible thing she did.
Back at the apartment, the two decorated the Christmas ornaments and set up a tree as well as everything else they needed to get set for Tobin's family.
"Alex, look, you don't really know how terrible I feel about the Tyler thing. I-I don't know what got into me. I just..I don't even know how it happened. He just..it was..I felt horrible. It was the worst decision I made" Tobin sighed, sitting on the couch after turning the lights on the Christmas tree.
"Tobin, it wasn't right what you did, and I still don't understand why you did it. But the important part was that I forgave you" Alex said.
"I thank God that you did. I don't know what I would do with myself if you didn't. I would probably just live in a hole the rest of my life, and die" Tobin took a shaky breath.
"Don't say that. You have me now, and I'm all yours" Alex sat in her lap, and Tobin wrapped her arms around her.
"I won't ever repeat my mistake. I will never let you go" Tobin whispered into her neck. "Never ever. Mrs. Morgan"
