Tobin's POV
"You guys planned this?" I ask when I let go of Kelley.
"No. We all just happened to be in the same room and Kelley didn't try to surprise you and we didn't have Eli go and get you for any reason because if one of us got you it wouldn't look suspicious. Nope" Moe grinned.
Thats when I noticed Meghan, wrapped around Moe.
I grin at her, and she nods to me, grinning too. But she doesn't look well. Her cheekbones are visible, and her normally plush face is as bony as mine.
"Thank you guys. I really needed something bright like that. Especially since these couple of days have been extremely...difficult since my little incident" I say, and Kelley grins.
"What was the incident?" Kelley asked. "Does it have anything to do with your black eye?" She points to the black swollen right eye that I have. I smile and nod.
"I beat Tyler up" I say.
"That must've been rad to watch" Kelley grins.
"No it was not!" Alex says, as I laugh. "She got in so much trouble, and we had to inject medicine in her to calm her down"
"Tobin, that is awesome!" Kelley and I high-fived.
"Not awesome!" Alex says. "And I don't even know why they were fighting"
I look down, and Kelley has an uncontrollable grin.
"Why were you fighting?" Kelley asked.
"Yeah, please tell us. So I can hear it. Maybe you'll actually tell because Kelley is here" Alex says, and even she can't hide a smile.
But I stopped smiling.
I hate Tyler's guts.
I start to shake in rage of the memory.
No.
Not now.
No more.
I can't have another attack.
Not in front of everyone.
I take three deep breaths and feel my hands start to slow down, and loosen their grip on my shirt.
Then, I spill out everything that happened. Every little word I said, and he said, every little movement. Everything. I look up at everyone. Alex is red. She's angry. Kelley is angry too, but she brushes it off easy. I wish I could do that.
Alex hugged me.
"I'm not mad anymore" She says, and Kelley claps.
"I am a miracle worker. I've just solved another one of your problems Talex" Kelley says, still clapping.
"All I have to do is stand here, and everything gets better" Meghan grins.
Alex lets go of me, and we all just stand there, smiling like idiots.
"Okay so are we just gonna stand here and smile at each other, or are we going to go have lunch like normal people?" JJ asks, then she grins. "Wait, some of us aren't normal" She eyes me, and we wink at each other.
"Yeah lets go! I'm starving" Moe calls, and they all whoop and they head out. I wait with Kelley and Eli until everyone leaves. I swear, Eli is my shadow.
"You've got a shadow I see" Kelley nods to Eli, who smiles and blushes slightly.
"Eli? He's my bro" I put an arm around him, and he's already taller than me, almost six foot, he says, and I believe it.
Kelley grins.
"Nice to meet you Eli, I'm Kelley O'Hara" Kelley sticks out her hand.
"Hi Kelley" Eli shakes her hand. "Any friend of Tobin is a friend of mine"
"He sure is a charmer, eh Toby?" Kelley grins.
"I want to know everything about what happened with you and Meghan inside their base" I say, and we start to walk out of the room, Eli at my side.
Kelley's face darkens.
"They didn't treat us nicely, I can tell you that much" She says, as if she's recalling a bad dream. "They did water torture on Meghan, and I got hung by my legs from the ceiling" She shakes her head.
"We should've got there sooner" I grumble.
She shakes her head again.
"No Tobin. They were ready for you guys for the first week, but then when you didn't show, they let their guard down" Kelley said, and she grabbed my hand, and I squeeze it. "I'm glad you came when you did. It was very thought out, I'm guessing"
I chuckle at the last part.
"It was a bit of blind terror on my part" I laugh. Kelley grins, and we head into the mess hall, and Kelley drops my hand.
"Don't want to get your wifey mad" Kelley winks at me, and I grin.
"I guess not" I say.
We take seats next to Alex and JJ and Christen.
"Is Hope here?" Kelley asked, searching the mess hall.
I hang my head.
"Sorry Kells. No Hope yet" I say, and I can see her heart sink.
"Oh" She says.
"But they say they know where she is" I say, and she nods, still not convinced.
"Oh" She says again.
I place a hand on her chin, forcing her to look at me.
"We'll find her, I promise" I say, and she nods.
There I go again, making promises that I may not be able to keep. I just hope we find Hope alive. Something in my gut tells me something is wrong. It doesn't feel good.
