Julie's POV
"Listen up!" Abby yells.
Everyone quiets, and looks to Abby.
"We've got to find Tobin, Ash, Ali, Christen, Kelley, Moe, Megan, and Alex" She announces.
"Yeah no dip sherlock! That't why Pinoe and I go deeper into the city each day!" I yell, aggravated on hearing her say this for the thousandth time each day.
"Abby! Its useless! They're goners!" Someone yells.
I want to beat them senseless.
"No!" Abby barks. "No" She says more calmly. "We keep looking until we find them"
"Semper fi!" A man yells, and the old military chant rises around the room.
I would find Christen with or without Abby's help.
Yeah I know she now has a little army, but I've got the brains she doesn't have.
Abby looks worriedly at me. I shrug.
She thinks we can't find them, but I'll find them. I've told her so, and Pinoe believes me, and we're searching until we drop dead.
The crowd goes about their business, and Abby finds her way to me and Pinoe.
"Listen, JJ-" She starts, and I don't want to hear it.
"Stop right there" I say, and then feel bad right away. "I'm sorry Abby, but I don't want to hear anything bad about Christen and the others" I'm fighting tears.
She pats my shoulder.
"I understand JJ. But please think about it before you go back out there tonight. Christen could be anywhere" Abby longs for me to stop the search.
"I can't stop looking, I can't Abby. I just can't. What if she's out there, and just waiting for us to find her?" I ask.
"I get it" Abby said.
I frown.
"Just please be careful" She turns away from me, and then to Pinoe. "Meg, watch her. Take care of her. We don't want another two names to add to the list of the missing"
Pinoe nods.
"Don't worry about us, Abigail" Pinoe winks.
I hold back a laugh once I see Abby's confused reaction. No one ever calls her Abigail.
"Just..stay safe kids" Abby smiled, then walked away.
I laughed, and so did Pinoe.
"Did you see her reaction?" Pinoe laughs. "Priceless"
"Definetly" I laugh.
Then I stop laughing abruptly.
"Lets go find the gals" I say, and Pinoe nods, getting on her vest and gun, then handing me mine.
Outside, the sun was setting.
A tear slips down my cheek as a memory burns into my head.
The memory was of when Christen and I were on the roof, staring at the sunset, and we decided to stay together forever. It wasn't a marriage proposal, it was more of a promise to always be there, no matter the circumstances. I wince and wipe away the tear.
"You okay JJ?" Pinoe asks, and I nod, although I'm really not.
Christen's disappearance is like a hole in my heart. I can't fill it without her.
