Tobin held on desperately. Her mouth was gagged, and of course she tried to yell for Alex, but it was no use.
She inched her way toward the house, daring not to look down if she didn't have to.
When she reached the house, she tried to kick the wall and hook her way over the edge. No use. Her handhold slipped once, but she regained balance.
She timidly looked down.
All snow.
She didn't remember the last time she plowed it or shoveled it, or even tried to do it, for that matter.
Tobin made her decision.
On the count of three, she would do it.
One.
She made a silent prayer.
Two.
She begged that Alex's life would be spared.
Three.
No turning back.
She let go.
Hitting the snow, she felt her ankle tingle.
"Great" She said, but still having the gag on, it sounded like a muffled squawk.
Taking the gag away, Tobin tried the door.
Locked.
"Dammit" Tobin whispered.
Having a limping run around the house, she found the front door that was busted open.
She darted inside, and searched the house.
"ALEX!" She yelled.
"Tobin!" A soft yell sounded from the guest bedroom.
"Oh God no" Tobin said, then ran into her room, grabbed a handgun, then almost broke the guest bedroom door opening it.
"Get the hell off her" Tobin said.
Machine looked up, and put his belt down. Clearly he had been beating Alex with it.
"Ah, the dyke is back" He sneered.
"Get your black ass out of here you spook" Tobin said, and he looked offended, but just grinned it off.
"You sure know how to make a man mad, for a Christian woman" Machine looped his belt back on, and put his shirt on.
"I'm not going to tell you again" Tobin said, putting her finger over the trigger.
"You wouldn't shoot me" Machine said, but he didn't sound so sure.
"Oh yeah? Stay here a little longer. I have an itchy trigger finger" Tobin said, then pointed to the window. "Jump" She commanded.
"Are you crazy?" He asked. "Its the second floor"
"Well lets hope you live" Tobin sneered. "Or don't"
Machine opened the window, and silently groaned.
"You're a bitch" He growled, before lifting one leg up and over.
"I'm her bitch" Tobin said, retaking aim.
Then Machine jumped. Tobin hurried and locked the front door back up.
Returning to the bedroom, she closed the window.
"Alex" Tobin said, teary eyed, crouching down and hugging her.
