Chester's reappearance! Dun-dun-dun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"You know, you should be happy to see me again," he replied.
He looked different than the last time I saw him. He looked younger. The last time I saw him he looked like he was in his thirties, now he looks like he's in his early twenties.
I see that he has gotten rid of his cane. Then I realized that I had a lot of questions to ask him.
"Are all Devils and Angels reborn by Rebirthers like I was?" I questioned.
"Yes," he responded.
"Then how come Claire doesn't know anything about a Rebirther? Do other people remember you after they've been reborn? Do other people not know, like Claire? Are there others that remember about Rebirthers?" I said, all in one breath.
Chester sighed. "Wow, you sure ask a lot of questions. I think I liked you better when you didn't talk so much."
"Answer my questions," I demanded.
"No," he replied immediately.
"Why?" I gasped. I wanted him to answer my questions so bad. I don't care what his answer is, no matter what I'm going to make answer my questions.
"Because I gave you a new life, I don't see you for more than 15 years, and you don't even thank me."
"Thanks," I thanked him, emotionless. I actually have wanted to thank him for a long time and even give him a hug, but it would have been embarrassing.
"I know that's not how you really want to thank me," he said, sounding disappointed. "Come on, express your true emotions."
I looked at him. He held out his arms expectantly. I ran into his arms and held him.
"Thanks," I whispered. I felt him hug me back. I let go and took a step back. "Now answer my questions." He sighed dramatically.
"Alright."
"Why doesn't Claire know anything about a Rebirther?" I asked.
"After you're reborn we erase your memory of everything that has happened. You forget about your past life and making a deal with a Rebirther," he replied.
"Then, why do I remeber everything?" This was really confusing.
"I didn't want to erase your memory," he responded. What?
"Why?" I demanded.
"I have my reasons," was his response. I scowled.
"Tell me," I demanded.
"No, Avril, I'm not gonna tell you and that's final," Chester sighed.
"Why won't you tell?" I exclaimed, frustrated. I want to know why he didn't make me forget.
"Fine, I will tell you. But you have to wait until I feel that it is the right time to tell you."
"Tell me."
"No."
"Tell. Me. Now."
"No."
"Damn it, tell me why you didn't erase my fucking memory!" I screamed.
He looked shocked at my outburst. I never yelled unless I was extremely frustrated.
"I told you, when I think the time comes I'll tell," he said calmly. I glared at him. "I'm sorry but I don't think you're ready for my answer yet."
I sighed, trying to calm down. I took deep breathes. Chester waited for me to calm down patiently.
"I'm sorry," I said. "I shouldn't have yelled at you like that."
"It's okay." He smiled at me.
"So..why do you look younger than you did before?" I asked.
"I don't know, I can choose the age that I want look."
 "And, how old are you exactly?"
"You want my actual age?" He smirked. I nodded.
"I'm 270,000 years old." My eyes widened, with shock.
"What the hell? Why are you so old?"
"I live in the Spirit world, you can never die," he replied.
"Wait, how did you get in my dream?"
"Because I'm magical," he responded. I raised an eyebrow. "I have powers that let me do things beyond your imagination my dear." I laughed. He smiled at me, so I smiled back.
~Chester~
"Because I'm magical," I responded. Avril raised an eyebrow. "I have powers that let me do things beyond your imagination my dear." She laughed. I smiled at her, she smiled back at me.
I looked at Avril. She had the same features that she had the last time I saw her. Except this time, she wasn't miserable. I had taken a liking to her when I first met her.
I'll admit, I was glad to see her laughing. This was the first time I had ever seen her smile. It was so radiant.
I wish I had visit her sooner, but well, I was really busy in the Spirit world. I patted her head, she scowled. She looked so cute.
Somehow I feel like a pedophile since I'm so old and I like a girl that was so much younger than me.
"So what happened to your rich looking cane?" Her voice was so cheery and wonderful, not like last time when her voice was full of melancholy and fear.
"I got rid of it, it made me look old," I replied.
"But you are old!" Avril shot back playfully. This felt nice, laughing and talking with Avril.
I realized that I had to go soon. I would have to leave her again. But I'll visit her again, maybe even.. no! Chester you can't think of that. You have a lot of work to do, I told myself.
"I'm gonna have to leave soon," I said. Avril frowned but she understood.
"Okay, bye," she said. The black and white checkered room was starting to disappear.
"I'll visit you again in your dreams, someday." I hugged her and kissed her forehead. She was shocked and looked at me. I smiled before she disappeared completely.
I couldn't tell Avril why I didn't erase her memory, but I'll tell her when the time comes. I didn't want to erase her memory because... I love her.
And I didn't want her to forget me.
