Chapter 26: The Dreaded Day

"I'll see you tonight Anna" Reyan kissed my cheek as he left for his office. It seemed strange, but good. As he left I walked back to the kitchen, I had a half day off as the clients won't be there till 4 in the evening and my presentation was ready.

As I toasted bread slices for myself, I wondered if Reyan felt it too. For the past 2 days he had been too domestic if nothing else. He helped me clean the house, make lunch, wash dishes, set the table everything, he even got the groceries when he came back from work, he would always kiss me on my cheek in the morning before leaving and say he'd see me in the evening. He called me yesterday telling me that he would be late and I should have the dinner myself, obviously I didn't, I waited for him.

I couldn't help but imagine how everything changed since that night and it has only been 2 days. Another thought that came into my mind and I couldn't help but get worried. Although Reyan was being a sweetheart, he was too being very secretive about something. I would find him talking to someone on phone or texting someone continuously. When I asked him what is it he changed the subject and made excuses so I had to leave the topic.

I shrugged the bad thoughts and smiled. After breakfast I got ready in my usual formal pants and shirt and re looked at the presentation which was fine. My phone rang indicating that my cab was here. I picked up my bag and laptop and left the house for office.

The meeting was a success; the clients loved the setup for the wedding. This meeting was special as Ruth specially flew all the way to India just for this, after the meeting Ruth called me in her office.

"I am really impressed Ariana, you are such talent" Ruth complemented me.

"It's my job ma'am, I just did what I am told" I told her.

"No no, it's not just my instructions, those clients were hard to impress and so am I. So I am going to offer you a lifetime opportunity" Ruth said with a professional smile.

"What offer ma'am?" I asked her curiously.

"I want you to be my very personal assistant and roam around the world with me" She said and I looked at her with wide eyes. Ruth Mac Alastair was asking me to be her personal assistant?

"Thank you for the offer ma'am but I can't accept" I told her confidently.

"Are you sure?" She asked me with a frown.

"Absolutely" I said again and she smiled.

"I knew you won't take the chance, you are too good and know your worth" She said with a wide grin and I replied her with a smile. "I am going to promote you as the head of this chain and in a week you can join you duties as the manager of this store" She said going back to her professional self.

"Thank you so much ma'am" I said and she extended her hand to confirm the deal.

"You can take an off now, go enjoy your day" She said and I left her office.

As soon as I reached my cabin I called Reyan to give him the good news, he picked up after two rings.

"Yes?" He asked in a professional tone and I understood he was with his boss or a client.
