ITC: Thea (How the Bad Boy Broke Me)

Thea's Interview*

(As the interviewer nears, Thea tenses up and her entire body shakes. She doesn't know she can trust them. She doesn't think she can trust anybody - not right now, anyway, not when They're out to get her.)

Interviewer: (Smiles at Thea) "What's your name?"

Thea: (Looks at Interviewer weary) "Uhm... uh, my name's Thea... Thea Rose Whitewoods. I like roses. A lot. they're so pretty and beautiful. Did you know that an orange rose means fascination? Because it does. Um... I like roses..." (She trails off and stares into the distance.)

(Interviewer looks at her funny)

Interviewer: "Um...what are you afraid of?"

Thea: "I'm scared of Them. I'm scared they're going to get me." (She smooths down her dress and leans in, her voice lowering to a whisper.) "They got me once before, back when I was a kid, and then they tortured me and they tried to kill me and they tried to make me believe their lies! But I didn't."

(Interviewer eyes widen)

Interviewer: "Um.... okay?" (Smiles at Thea) "Who do you have a crush on?"

Thea: (She smiles slightly.) "I like Liam. He's amazing."

Interviewer: "Do you consider yourself popular?" (Raises eyebrow)

Thea: "I guess, maybe a bit. But Magnets - she's my friend - she says that we're the unpopular kids. She says that the popular kids are all mean and I have to believe her because she's my friend. But I do have five friends. And I guess that means I'm popular, but only a little bit." (Frowns)

Interviewer: "What makes you happy?"

Thea: "I like flowers, and painting, and being with Liam, and being in my safe white room. Because I'm safe, and then They can't get me."

(Interviewer lookes at her confused)

Interviewer: "Why do you keep looking for danger?"

Thea: (She shakes her head.) "I don't! I really, really don't! I don't want to be in danger because then they can catch me and then they'll torture me and drug me until they force the truth out from me and then they'll kill me and then they can rule the world!" (Pants a little)

(Interviewer eye widen to her short rant)

Interviewer: "Okay...do you think you can change anyone?"

Thea: (Frowns) "No. I'm really weak." (Signs)

Interviewer: "What are your favorite things to do?"

Thea: "I like painting. It makes me feel calm and then my wall looks really nice. And it's kind of like magic." (Smiles)

(Interviewer nods)

Interviewer: "What makes you angry?"

Thea: (Gives an angery face) "It makes me angry when people say that Liam is horrible! Magnets, she says, right, she says that he tried to rape Caz, but she must be lying because Liam is too nice and kind to do that. She was lying because she was jealous!"

(Interviewer nods, but keeps quiet)

Interviewer: "Would you consider yourself unfortunate?"

Thea: "No." (Pauses) "Well, maybe a little, because They're after me. But I'm a lot luckier than everyone else, because they only see the fake world, but I see the real world. I can see through their lies." (She glances around, then seems to relax a little.)

Interviewer: "Are there things that you are looking forward to in the future and are there things you dread in the future?"

Thea: "I am really looking forwards to..." (She frowns.) "I don't know. The Christmas dance, maybe. I can't think of the future. But... But I think in the future, they'll catch me. And they'll torture me. And it will be horrible." (Shudders to her words)

Interviewer: "What do you think of Liam?" (Cocks eyebrow)

Thea: (Her frown becomes a manic grin.) "He is perfect and wonderful and beautiful and wise and beautiful! And he's protecting me from Them, because he's so nice like that, and he's so wonderful, and he has really deep brown eyes and every time you look at them it's like falling in and his skin is so warm that it burns when he touches me and..." (She pauses to breathe, glancing around, and then her eyes fix on something in the distance.) "And I love him. A lot."

(Interviewer nods happy for her)

Interviewer: "What's going to happen from now on?"

Thea: "I'm going to hide. From Them. But Liam will protect me." (At this, she gets up and dashes away. Interviewer frowns at her reaction)

Interviewer: ".....okay?" (Looks at the clock) "I'm outta here." (Gets up and leaves the room)

Summary: Thea knows she's being chased by a sinister organization that wants to torture, kill, and utterly destroy her. She's the shy, insecure new girl at Elmoor Grammar. She likes paintings, flowers and the colour white.

Everyone knows Liam's the bad boy. He likes fighting, fast relationships and Thea (or at least her body). When he vows to protect her, she knows she can redeem him. She's wrong, of course.
