Andrew's Interview*
(Andrew walks in a very professional way, impressing the Interviewer. They quickly exchange skakes and then both take a seat)
Interviewer: "Hello and let's begin." (Straightens papers) "What's your name?"
Andrew: "Andrew."
(Interviewer raises an eyebrow, but doesn't continue on with the introduction)
Interviewer: "What kind of man are you?"
Andrew: "Man? Well to kindly contradict that word, I wouldn't think of myself as a 'man' in particular. I am a little confused on who or what I am. You know all those stories about poor ignorant boys trying to find who they are. Well I am not poor nor am I ignorant...I am merely curious." (Makes circular movement with his hand)
(Interviewer nods)
Interviewer: "I see...do you like to help others? If so, explain why?"
Andrew: (Smiles) "It's free. It is easy. It isn't time consuming. Why not? Now on a more serious note, most people would say 'helping people is helping myself!' now in a sense, that is selfish isn't it? You are only helping others to help yourself? That is selfish if I do say so myself. I help others because it makes them happy. Just becuase they are happy doesn't make me happy of course, it is just...nicer...more pleasant to put it lightly, to see another person's smile light up the world."
(Interviewer nods slowly understanding)
Interviewer: "That's something I haven't heard before. Nice. What is your career?"
Andrew: "Now your world is...uhm. Very different from ours. Stop me if I go too far. Now in our world we don't have these...medications if that is what they are referred to. We don't have hospitals nor do we have...antidotes. From plants and such. We have PAs and PDs. PA stands for Pain Absorber. And PD stands for pain distributors (or...the patients...just so you understand) Now the only way to heal a person is by taking their pain and distributing it to a point where it could not be felt. For example, if I were to have a cold and I had 99 people around me. Each person would get 1% of my cold. Now of course with 8 billion people in the world, you cannot even feel the pain. Every month ever citizen goes to get their pain (tax). But sometimes there are people who are not willing ot take the pain from others and therefore...many people die because they aren't cared for. PAs take on the responsibility of taking a bigger portion of pain than everone else."
(Interviewer nods, though has no idea what he is saying and all that)
Interviewer: "Um... okay. Um...What does your job mean to you?"
Andrew: "It means everything to me. I am up and moving. I will never be able to see any of my family or friends ever again. I will not be able to contact or interact with them ever again. But my job is the way to make me happy. I am, in a sense, a hero." (Smiles brightly)
Interviewer: "A hero... nice. What do you like to do in your spare time?"
Andrew: "Spare time?" (Rubs back of neck) "I never really had spare time. I would always either volunteer? Or help out with someone who needed it...I don't know...or I would...I usually like to look at the sunrise and sunset. I can't draw nor sketch. I have no talents really. Other than the fact that I can remember every color of that sunset I have seen so many times."
Interviewer: "Sounds nice... which do you enjoy more, your job or what you do during your leisure hours?"
Andrew: "Doing my job."
Interviewer: (Looks down at paper) "What do the words 'fear' and 'danger' mean to you?"
Andrew: "Fear is something I have to keep people away from. "There is nothing to fear other than fear itself" and it is true. Keep the people happy, and you are happy. Danger. Danger is something that the people MUST be ignorant of. Somehting that we can take care of without them knowing." (Gives a knowing look)
(Interviewer nods)
Interviewer: "What about the words 'hurt' or 'death'?"
Andrew: (Thinks a litle) "They are words we must stray away from. We must all learn to help one another out even though we may not know each other. Ignoring someone is like killing them. No one is a murderer here."
Interviewer: "Sounds nice... do you have any secrets that you'd like to share?"
Andrew: "Secrets? I wish Sarah wouldn't move in with Richie. Sarah is my sister and Richie is my best friend. Another secret? I haven't told my parents about me leaving yet. I really don't have secrets..."
Interviewer: (Flips page) "What are your future plans?"
Andrew: (Smiles brightly) "Be a PA. I will die soon after joining anyways. It is a record to live past fifty years after applying, from all the physical and mental pain."
(Interviewer eyes shoot open)
Interviewer: "Um... anything else you'd like to say before we go?"
Andrew: "Have a good life. Stay safe and help others as much as you can. Don't have the attitude of 'oh it's not me, so why do I have to help?' but what if you were the unfortunate one! You would want others to take care of you." (A phone rings and Andrew looks at it) "Well, I got to go. Thank you and hope you got all you needed." (Before the Interviewer could say anything, Andrew already left the room)
Interviewer: ".........." (Shrugs and leaves the room)
