Stuck in Runes

Chapter 16

(Sophia POV)

The sun shines through the window in my room.

"Oh the rain is gone" I say sitting up in the soft bed.

Mina was still asleep so slipped out of the bed and went into the other room. 

I look around the small kitchen that I had over looked yesterday. Everything that would adorn a kitchen were there microwave, oven, stove, sink, refrigerator. A small two seat table sat in the kitchen under a window. Two sofas, a book shelf, a coffee table, and a wooden desk sit in the open space next to the kitchen. The fire place was now full of embers, after the fire I made last night died.

I use the prong and shift the embers, making small glowing orange flakes fly into the air. The small lights they give off quickly go out while they are no longer in the warmth of the fireplace. I walk over the of the cabinets, all empty. That makes sense.

I walk over the the bathroom attached to the hallway leading to the bedroom. I walk in and look around. A shower and bath, a sink, a toilet, and small closet. I take a quick shower and dry off. I walk into my room and change my clothes; I put on a black tank top and sweatshirt over that, white shorts, and white bare foot sandals. I Open the curtains and let the days light into the room. Mina remained asleep. I brushed out my hair until it dried.

"Mina..." I touch her slightly.

"Miiinnnaa" I push her sleeping form again. She open her eyes and stretches then crawls into my bag. I laugh and roll my eyes.

"Good morning to you to" I say to her while I pick up my bag.

I walk out of my room and see Amanda and Maria, the mages I spoke with yesterday.
I wave and they walk over.

"Hi" I say cheerfully.

"Hello" Maria says smiling, Marin wasn't around so I assumed that Sam hadn't met up with them yet and summoned her. Amanda hasn't looked up, she had a pair of  strange blue glasses on, and her nose stuck in a book.

"Hello Amanda" I wave. She nods not looking up or making any sound.

"She's reading a new book don't try it won't work" Maria said chuckling.

We walk down the stairs and to the path that leads to the guild.

"How did you guys sleep?" I ask

"Fine, how about you?" Maria respond, Amanda still just read her book navigating her path.

"Fine, the rain was kind of loud though I must say."

"Ya" she says.

We walk in silence the rest of the way. The sun was peaking through the trees as we walked, casting oddly shaped and miscellaneous shadows on the ground. As we walk I can here the animals walking up and scurrying through the trees around us as if the path was not their. 

We walk into the guild all is still quite seeing as the loud one were at home sleeping or passed out drunk on the tables around us. I asked Lissana, who I had met last night, for a cup of tea and something to eat. She gives me the tea and an egg fried with meats, cheese, veggies, and rice. I thanked her and she went to take another order. A man walked up and sat next to me asking for coffee. I looked at him he had dusty blond hair, scruff, and a cute crooked smile. He thank Lissana for the drink and too a sip.

"Hi" I smile sweetly. He looks over and me and his face is consumed in a blush.

"He-hello" I mumbles takeing another drink of coffee.

"If you don't mind me asking, I'm trying to get to know the people in the guild so... Um you mind talking?" I ask not really sure how to word it.

He looks as me a dark pink still consumes his cheeks but a small smile forms on his face and he says. "I'm Max, I use sand magic. May I ask who you are lovely lady?" I blush slightly.

"Sophia..." I say

"And when did you get here miss?" He asked me. He is now speaking clearly.

"Umm... I was the girl fighting the rock mister yesterday..." I blushed a rub the back of my head.

"Rock monster?! I was out on a mission yesterday! What are you talking about?" He exclaims. I blush a deep Crimson.

"You can talk to Mira I just remembered I have to check on something! Thanks for talking with me!" I say quickly leaving. I run to the back room to check on amuraus. I totally forgot that should have been my first priority! I open the door to find him still sitting there. I sigh in relief. I make my self calm and walk in confidently.

"Did you sleep well?" I say in a sassy tone but still trying to be polite.

"Ya know som' fin. You seem t' get prettier each time I see ya, nd' I can't hate ya still" he says sitting in the cage watching me. I blush crosses my face.

"Your just trying to get me flustered I know your tricks." I say blushing madly.

"Nd' they seem t' be work'en on ya ms' dragoness" he says a smirk growing on his face.

"Are you hungry or not?" I mumble not facing him. He makes me so mad!!

"Sure but only if YOU bring it." He says still smirking.

"Well then enjoy being hungry" I wave, sudden shock and panic crosses his face.

"Any one Would be fine" he says quickly as I walk out. I get some water, bread, and soup to bring back to him. I walk over to Max with my tray of food.

"Mira told me what happened! Your a dragon slayer?!" He asked, I nodded. "That's really cool! Oh umm did you need something?" He asks, I nod again.

"Would you mind coming with my to drop of amuraus' food?" I ask not adding more, he nods and fallows me to the room.

"Tank' ya kindly miss dragoness! And you accommodated my wishes, you daliveren and all" He says. I grind my teeth. I change the runes a little bit and drop it in the bubble and quickly walk out, with max fallowing close behind.

"Man I really hate him! Thank you for coming with me, I'm not sure if I could have don't that as swiftly without some to hold the tray, it's easier and eye level." I smile.

"No problem, my pleasure." He mumbles blushing. A mad with black hair walks over and looks and me, then Max, then me again.

"Max how did you get such a lovely young lady to talk with you." The man said smiling at me, naturally I smile back. A blush covers his face.

"Warren this the the dragoness, Sophia, I helped her with the current inmate." Max said stuffing his hand into his pockets.

"It's a pleasure to meet you!" I smile, they both blush.

"Like wise" he says shaking my hand.

"Can I buy you something to drink?" They both ask me at the same time. I blush.

"I. Umm" I start to respond but they look at each other and start bickering over who spoke first. I stand there awkwardly not really sure if I should leave or not.
