>>Ashley's POV<<

Mom sighed. "No!" she tutted. "Those are the Christmas paper plates! We need the Thanksgiving ones! In the cupboard with the bowls."

I removed the paper plates with Santa's, bobbles and Christmas trees designed on them that I had set all neatly in front of all six seats off of the table, and reached up to the wooden cupboard and grabbed the other paper plates that had turkeys and Autumn leaves on them instead. I lay them out exactly like I did the Christmas ones.

"Okay, done." I kept a blank face. "Done with these decorations? Jeez."

"Not quite!" Mom replied, sticking wall stickers that said 'Happy Thanksgiving' on them all over the walls.

Honestly, I don't know how she has the energy. There's balloons, table cloths, bowls, plates, cups, and even seat covers Thanksgiving themed. I don't even want to celebrate Thanksgiving. I was dreading it even more because my Aunt Caitlyn was coming. She's the worst person in the whole family I swear. She's always telling me how I should be studying and working like constantly. She's so...I don't know...selfish I guess. There's just something off about her. Anyway, it's alright because Lucy was coming (forced) with her mom, and, lastly, my cousin.

"Okay, now we're done!" She smiled proudly and looked around the room. "Do you think it looks good?"

"Yeah," I looked at the decorations fondly. "Really went all out, didn't you?"

"Well, after all, it is Thanksgiving."

I laughed. "So, when is everyone getting here?"

"In.." She looked at her watch. "Ooooh! Ssssshhhhhhssssugar! They'll be here in less than an hour. I gotta get changed." She turned to run but then rushed back around quickly. "And you should too." Then she continued to run upstairs.

"Thanks...?"

--20 minutes later--

One last flick of mascara, annnd...done! Then, a sudden knock on the door startled me and then I rushed downstairs in time to see my mom opening the door. Standing on the other side was, you guessed it, my Aunt Caitlyn and my cousin, Aaisha. Aunt Caitlyn smiled at us both. She was wearing a long black dress, black heels, and red lipstick. Her long hair was tied into a braid. As for Aaisha, she had a white crop trop on,revealing her light stomach, blue denim jacket, black leggings and white trainers. She had black lipstick on and eye-make-up.Her black hair rested on her chest.

"Hi, Laura!" Aunt Caitlyn shook my mom's hand. "Ashley."

I stared at her. "Hi." I said sharply.

"Well don't just stand out in the cold!" Mom gestured them to come inside, and that's just what they did.

I heard Aaisha sniff. "Smells great in here." She said softly. "You shouldn't have cooked, Laura."

"Yeah, if it were me I'd buy a cheap turkey from the dollar store and use leaves fresh from the garden as the lettuce." Aunt Caitlyn joined.

It fell silent.

"I was joking."

Everyone was now pretending to laugh.

"Well, shall we sit?"

Mom showed everyone to the kitchen and we all sat at the overly decorated table. Aaisha was opposite me and for some reason, she wouldn't stop staring at me. Anyway, next to her was Aunt Caitlyn and next to her at the end of the table was my mom. I mean, gee thanks for the company.
