>>Lucy's POV<<
Everyone was getting ready for bed inside their tents. Lucky for me, I had a cramped orange tent, inside was me and Ashley. She was sitting cross legged, with her hair curlers in, and a onesie shaped as a horse. It even had ears and a tail. I have to say, she looked hilarious. I had my tangled old hair down, no make up on, and simple satin purple pajamas.
"Pass that blue nail polish, would you?" Ashley spoke to me, sounding hurried. It was then that I noticed she had a full face of make up on.
I raised my eyebrows. "You're painting your nails? and you have make up on?" I say as handing her her bottle of nail polish. "This is a camp. You're not supposed to look perfect, Ashley."
"Well, in any situation," She started, painting her nails the lovely blue color. "I have to look my best."
Why did she bother with this?
"But why? You're really pretty with and without makeup. It's a different story for me."
Ashley sighed. "Well, I just like to look nice sometimes, I guess it lifts the insecurity about my looks right off of my shoulder."
What? How could she possibly think she was ugly?
I laughed. "You're not ugly! If anything, I am."
"No," She said, letting down her hair. "You don't understand. Why do you think I bother with this for going to sleep?"
"Well, you don't have to impress everybody."
"No, I have to impress myself."
I frowned at her and the rest of the night was awkward.
"Right," She said, getting on her knees. "Let's go roast some marshmallows!"
We both crawled out of our tent and found no-one in the space around where we'd hoped someone had built a fire, it was just dark and cold.
"Oh, for gods sake!" I moaned. "Let's get the rest of 'em out here and help us get the logs to sit on and create the fire."
Ashley agreed and banged on the other tents, as everyone was soon out of theirs.
"Okay," Ashley said, "Troain, go fetch some big logs to sit, Shay, find a way to make some fire, an-"
"Hey," Troain interrupted, "I can't carry huge logs all by myself."
Ashley (once again) sighed.
"And I can't make fire in the night." Shay agreed.
"Oh, that's easy." Troain glared at Shay.
"Okay, okay!" Ashley silenced them. "Shay and Tyler go search for logs." They nodded and disappeared into the forest. "And, Troain, make fire!" Troian got on to her hands and knees. She gathered some sticks and twigs.
"It's easy." She picked up two sticks and rubbed them together. "You just have to rub these together, and you create friction. If I do this long enough, it will make fire."
"Okay, Troian, we really don't care." Ashley annouced.
Troain tutted and kept rubbing the two sticks together. It soon created a spark, "Ah, see!" Troian called, sounding proud, the spark soon exploded in to a small fire, falling to a dozen other sticks.
A light lit up our faces. Troian wiped her hands and stared at the warm fire in front of us.
"Great job, Tro, you're a pro." Keegan cuddles Troian from behind and she smiled widely.
