I wake up the next morning to sound of nothing. No kids, not the dog barking at birds in the window. Nothing. It's nice but it doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. I push the blankets off me, check on the babies and go downstairs. I'm about to call Chris when the front door opens. I wait and Chris walks into the kitchen, a shopping bag in his hands and a coffee.
"Thought I'd make us breakfast. You didn't have a very big grocery selection."
"Sorry about that." I sigh, sitting at the island. "I haven't really thought about grocery shopping. Been living off pizza and wings."
"Well today after my shift we'll go and get some."
"Where are the girls?"
"Out back. They came with me and ran back there after we got back."I get up and go to the window. They're running around the yard, probably playing tag with the dog. They love to do that. They really believe he tries to tag them. It brings me joy to see after all this that their still happy and not affected. I wish I could say the same for myself.

The girls have soccer all day today so we'll be spending a lot of the day at the field. But first comes shopping. Shopping with kids is a hassle so having someone there to keep me on budget and keep the kids in line will help a bunch. I'm packing lunch bags and making sure I have everything when there's a knock on the door. I lay everything down and go answer it. I open to see Natasha. She doesn't smile or anything, she just stands there."What do you want?" I ask, looking at her.
"I need to talk to you."
"I don't have anything to say to you." I say, going to shut the door. She stops it with her hand.
"I know who sent the letter about child endangerment."
I move out of the way so she can come in. She sits at the dining room table while I continue to get ready."It was Rachel." She says, looking down at the floor. "I tried to tell her not too but she just wouldn't listen."
"Why would you tell her not too?" I ask, trying to think of a reason she would care."Believe it or not I didn't want to hurt you. I was just doing what was best for me."
"Yeah well you hurt other people in the process." I say, grabbing all the bags. She follows me out to the van but I don't say anything.
"I'm just gonna go." She says, walking away. Why'd she even think she had to come here? I was gonna figure out who it was when we showed up in court anyways.

After an hour in the sun I take everything and move into the shaded area. There's a little food place by the field that has a roofed area in case it rains. I think it's the best place for me since the babies shouldn't be in the sun for too long. Plus there's picnic tables so I have something to sit on other than the grass. I'm watching the girls play when someone sits next to me. I look up and see Rachel.
"You've got to be kidding me." I say, rolling my eyes."I just wanted to deliver to you personally that court is set for next wednesday. I tried extra hard to get it early. You know, for the kids benefit."
"There's nothing even wrong with the enviroment my kids are living in." I scoff.
"Letting your alcoholic husband take them, putting them in danger everyday when you leave them knowing he's out there."
"Brad isn't a danger to them. He's fine when he's around them."
"And the outburst he had last night when he dropped them off? What do you call that?"
"How'd you know... Get away from me." I say, looking away from her."I'll be seeing you later sister." She smiles, walking away.
What the hell is wrong with her head?
