Chapter 21: The Girl Behind the Mask - Part 1

I waited for Merida outside so I could drive her and me to the masquerade ball and she took forever. When she finally arrived with Roxy by her side we were ready to go. We arrived and went inside to be embraced with lights flashing everywhere and with the music rocking so loud that my ears could explode. We saw Jay and Elsa and wandered over to them "Hey guys you alright?" I asked them they all nodded while grabbing a drink in their hands. They handed me one but I refused didn't wanna get drunk, with one I have loads and besides I'm trying to be sensible one to earn Ally's trust and....well that's it really.

I noticed James come through the entrance at the top of the stairs that you could walk down from left or right and had a date by his side wearing this blue gem dress and I cloak around her. I knew that it was Kerri because she was wearing it in the shop the other day when I saw her with Ally. "Hey I'll be right back," I said to the others. "Where you going?" Merida and Roxy ordered an answer. "Just to see James and Kerri now let me go!" I ordered back since they were holding onto me with a tight grip. They slowly loosened and looked up at the top of the staircase. All the lights went out and they just left to bright spotlight lights on and they landed on this beautiful girl standing at the top of the stairs.

Everyone in the room was gazing up at this girl who had no partner with her. She was smiling and it was a cute smile, she was wearing this beautiful dress which was puffy at the bottom and was teal green and netted. The top half was had what looked like this leaf looking pattern on it which covered most of her chest and was pure black. There were no sleeves so she was bear armed. Her mask was wrapped around her eyes so no one knew who she was but I could see a glimmer of blue shining through them. Her hair was curled with a plait going around their head while wearing a flower band the same colours as the dress wrapped around the plait (outfit is the picture above). She was the most stunning out of everyone in this room.

"Who is she?" Jay asked us we all shook our heads in confusion until Elsa's voice spoke "I would know that dress from anywhere," we all looked at her "Why who's is it?" I asked she scoffed and answered "That's my mother's," she sounded hurt. "Then that must be Anna right," I asked and she shook her head in anger "Nope because Anna is over there and she doesn't have blonde hair, that is Astrid," Jay wrapped his arms around Elsa while I gazed up as she walked down the stairs. "Come on let's not let her ruin our night," with that they all walked away while I decided to make my way over to her while they weren't looking.

I walked down the stairs to find that everyone was still staring at me until a girl came over and said "Changed your mind did you?" I took her hand and headed to the dance floor with her since the music started again and people finally looked away while some still stared. "Well I had a little persuading," I answered them, they smiled and replied "Well I'm glad I could help you," it was Kerri just in case you are wondering. We twirled each other around in beat with the music and had a good laugh.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see these emerald forest eyes beneath a black mask "I will leave you be," Kerri let me go so I was face to face with the guy, he took my hand and I took his and he whispered "What changed your mind Ally?" he asked me I looked up at him and said "I had a little persuading, Hayden, and did you know it was me?" I asked. He laughed "Well maybe Elsa gave it away a little," I rolled my eyes, of course she would. The music stopped and another song came on, 'Listen to your heart' by DHT.

(Play the music) "May I have this dance?" he asked me while sending out his hand towards me. I bowed down and accepted it "You may," I placed my hand into his and we walked further into the dance floor. He pulled me around to face him so we were chest to chest and we started to waltz around the room. Our hands lost grasps so our palms were touching each other instead and we circled around in a circle.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me in the air

He placed me back onto the ground and twirled me around

I don't know where you're going and I don't know why

I turned back to face him and our hands grasped each other again

And we both spun around together.

The space between the music we separated because we noticed Merida and Roxy gazing in our way with glares upon their faces. "You better go," I said shyly he nodded and said "Yeah guess I do," our hands lost each other and he walked away.

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile,

I gazed over towards them while hiding in the shadows thinking about what I've been feeling

The precious moments are a lost in good tides, yeah, there swept away and nothing is what it seems,

I began replaying all the times me and Hayden bumped into each other and the beach party, how much fun we had and that kiss

The feeling of belonging, to your dreams....

I clung hold to myself as if I was holding onto all those memories and feelings so they wouldn't go away.

I felt like my heart was pumping out of my chest in front of me to go and reach out for him instead of Merida clinging onto him

I watched him look over in my direction and stared each other eye to eye while Merida pulled his gaze back onto her and a sharp pain engaged my heart.

I don't know where you're going and I don't know why

I walked away and found myself in the corridors wandering, thinking about what I just saw and how I felt hurt that...that it....urgh I can't say it.

I glanced down at the floor as a tear escaped my eyes.

I was wandering down the hallways while each step I took a small tear escaped my eyes and fell against the floor. I found myself scrapping lockers with my hands and then my body weight pulled up against them.....

So much to mention but you can't find the words....

I found my way back into the room where everyone was to see Merida clinging onto Hayden tightly

I scanned passed them and headed my way towards the stairs to leave the ball,

I began slowly walking up the steps without tripping over my tears

I looked behind me to see him still standing there in her grasp and engrossed within her eyes and I couldn't bear it so I ran out the door without looking back.
