Even though I stole those pins from Roxie it didn't change the facts that we weren't getting out without a good chance in doing so. By the sounds of things we were being guarded twenty four seven, which made our odds useless. Kerri stayed close to the cage door and listened out for any means of a chance of escape. Each time it was completely useless, everything just seemed calm and helpless outside these metal walls.
Right now though I was led on the floor, staring wide eyes up at the ceiling. Remembering what it was like with I and Jack when we were younger, staring up at the midnight sky, glancing at the correlations the stars made. We could never figure it out, but it was fun trying to do it anyway. As I was imagining that, I was twirling the locket wrapped around my neck Phoenix gave me years ago. I decided to open it up and look at the pictures inside.
On the left hand side, glancing up at me was me, Kerri and Phoenix. I couldn't remember when we took that picture but it released a smile on my face anyways. On the right hand side it showed I and Hayden. I shut it quickly as a tear fell down my face. I wiped it away; I couldn't think about that right now, I just couldn't. "Ally!" Kerri whisper shouted towards me snapping me out of my trance of emotions.
She tapped her finger against her ear and pointed to the door. We both stayed quiet and made no sound. We stopped and listened to hear what was going on outside the cage; it took a while for my ears to adjust to what was going on? Sooner than later I got good enough to hear that something bad had happened, an emergency by the sounds of it. They...they needed all the help they could gather. I immediately stopped listening and looked at Kerri who was beaming towards me.
I knew what she was thinking, because we were both thinking the exact same thing. Before we knew it the footsteps ran away from the cage making a means of escape for us to make. I ran towards the door and pulled out the two pins I stole from Roxie. "I still don't understand why you stole those?" Kerri asked me confused at what I was doing. I stuck them through the key hole and fiddled with the lock for a while until I heard a catch.
I pushed the door open and looked at Kerri astonished, "Where did you learn to do that?" I laughed "Just an old trick I learned from Phoenix a while back, and it definitely served me well today," Kerri smiled at my remark and we made our run for it. Suddenly the alarm went off, signally our escape, now they were on the hunt like wild wolves, a means to find their prey. Making me and Kerri make our way out stealthily as possible.
As we made our way behind these crates, luckily for us they were quite big, making it a perfect hiding place for us. On top of the crate I found a pack of matches, I quickly stole them before anyone could notice. I looked around to see if anyone was around, but also to see if the path to the door of the outside world was clear. It was, so me and Kerri made our way over towards it as fast as we could. I opened the door without hesitation "Where do you think you're heading sweetheart," I looked around to see Merida's mother, I shook my head. Kerri looked at me worried and scared.
"Get help," I told her, "Wait what?!" she cried before I thrust her through the door and slammed it shut behind her and locked it tight. I heard her bang in the door hard as her screams echoed through harshly. "Smart choice, now stop this and come with us easily," Merida's mother choked. "You're gonna have to catch me first," she glared at me furiously and I escaped into a run before she could get near me.
Now I had a herd of people on my trail out looking for me than I did before. This place was big I didn't know where I was going, so it would take them forever to find me. I kept running and running, no idea in where I was heading, just had one goal and that was just to keep going. But in doing so, so concentrated on that goal, I ran into something sharp, I collapsed to the ground, grabbing hold of my leg.
A cut made its way up my leg, deep, blood gashing out everything. It was throbbing, red velvet covering the ground, making me sit in a pool of blood. It was bad, but I stood up and walked as fast as I could to somewhere safe, but little did I know leaving a trail of blood behind me in the process. I was never gonna get out now. But that didn't stop me from moving forward, having a means of escape.
"Alana, you might as well give up now, your injured and we'll find you quicker than you think, just hand yourself over and no harm will come," I heard Merida's mother's voice cackled through the walls, getting closer and closer to me. I couldn't go on any further. I collapsed back onto the ground, exhausted, dizzy, and unaware of my surroundings. I shook my head, I need to block it out of my mind and focus on my task.
I lowered my head to the side, I didn't know if I was imagining what I was seeing, but I crawled over to it anyway. I was right, in front of me I could see cans upon can of fuel, that's when I remembered that set of matched I picked up from the crates. An idea popped into my head at that point. I grabbed the cans and opened them, pouring the fuel everywhere, it didn't matter if it was all over the building, the place is made of wood, it will spread and burn, everything will be lost.
I took out the matches and looked inside, oh, lucky for me, one match left, which was helpful. I took it out and started to tremble. "What are you doing?!" they were right in front of me. "Say goodbye to your amazing experiment," I lit the match and dropped it into the fuel, creating flames spreading everywhere. I saluted towards her and ran for it again, ignoring the pain surging through my body at every aching muscle.
All I had to do now was find my means of escape...again. The place was falling apart, wood collapsing at every turn I went, I was never getting out of here. Sirens...I started to hear sirens coming from outside. I used this to my advantage, I followed where the noise was coming from and the closer I got, the louder the noise became. I started to see light; it was getting bigger and bigger by the minute. I got to a door, with whatever energy I had left within my weak aching bones and pushed it open and fell out through the door and scrambled away as fast as I could.
I looked up and saw the building crumbling to a million pieces. By the looks of it, Merida's mother got a few people in time, but not her precious experiment. The place was packed, firemen, police, and ambulances. It was too much for me to take in, I couldn't gather it all in. Merida's mother and the people who she got out were being held by the police, while in the other section of the yard, I couldn't make out.
It got a bit clearer; I could see Kerri held against someone lovingly, it was James. Next to them I could finally see who it was, it was Hayden and Jack. "ALLY!" I heard Hayden shout, "Hayden," my voice was weak and frail. I couldn't shout it was sore probably from the flames inside the building. I started to walk towards them, when I stopped suddenly. I looked down in front of me, inside my chest a dagger was plunged and blood appeared all over, expanding by the minutes.
I looked up and saw Roxie "Say hi to my mother for me," she pushed it in further before taking it and letting me fall to the ground. I heard someone shout my name, people running in my direction, but that was it....
That was all I could see before my breath was falling and my eyes shut.
