Smile

Dry your eyes, cut those cable ties and swat away the flies as if you never intended on dying.

Wrap a blanket around yourself and stop your useless crying. You know what? Just stop trying.

Stop trying to please the very people that caused you so much pain. The same people that tied you up and made you a slave.

The same people that made you dig your own grave and hang a sign that said 'coming soon.'

Now it's long past noon and the sun has told you goodbye and that it will be back so just sit back and enjoy the silence.

The once violent thoughts will sit there and wait. They will wait for your body to snap under the pressure but you won't let it, will you?

You will sit and wait for the sun to come up again and you will watch as that same sun rises and you will swear to yourself that it's somehow brighter, happier, more beautiful than you thought.

Just like you.

You will rise out of that bed that you've made your home and you will travel down those stairs and brush back the stray hairs while you risk the stares from the people you love wondering why you're awake so early.

Surly they must've heard the little birdie outside chirping out an alarm to let the whole neighborhood know that the darkness has done no harm.

You will smile and show the planet what you can do as a capable human being and you will not tolerate defeat. Not again.

So take that blanket off of your shoulders, wipe your eyes and cut those cable ties.

And do one more thing-

Smile.
