Star's P.O.V.
"Ugh..." I groaned, as I turned and flipped around the couch, surfing channels. I looked at the clock. '7:15 AM'. Class starts at 8:00 AM. A scent of delicious, freshly-baked pastries made me go curious. I stood up and walked to the kitchen, finding Mrs. And Mr. Diaz. They were baking.. Heart-shaped cookies?
"Oh, hey, Star! How're you doing?" Mrs. Diaz smiled. I smiled back, waving. "I'm doing pretty good," I shrugged.
Mr. Diaz was wearing an apron which said, 'Kiss The Cook', and he seemed to be grabbing the tray of cookies.
"Oh, hello, Star! Happy Valentines!" The Latino happily said. Valentines? What the heck is that? I thought to myself.
I heard footsteps from the staircase and saw Marco, still brushing his brown hair, tongue sticking out in concentration.
"Hey Star, hey mom, hey dad, Happy Valentines," He said. "Marco, be careful. Watch your step, you might trip," I warned him. Marco nodded, rushing down the stairs, grabbing his bag. "Oh my gosh, it's 7:55! Star, we gotta go now!" He screamed, bits of his voice cracking.
He got one of the heart-shaped cookies, popped it into his mouth, grabbed my arm and dashed out of the house. "Byeee Mr. And Mrs. Diaaaz!" I yelled, looking back as me and Marco had a race with the clock.
5 Minutes Later
Marco's P.O.V.
We finally arrived in the nick of time, at the doors of me and Star's first class. I put my hands on my knees, panting, while out the corner of my eye, I saw Star, beads of sweat running down her forehead.
"W-we... W-we m-made it..." Star panted, clearly exhausted. Thankfully, our teacher hasn't arrived. I sat on my seat, trying to catch my breath. The moment Star took her seat, boys swarmed around her. I inwardly groaned. Surely, with Star's bubbly attitude, long, beautiful blonde hair and attractive crystal blue eyes, she was practically a boy-magnet.
The guys swarming Star all wanted the same thing. To ask her out for the Valentines dance. I furrowed my eyebrows. At least, all Star seemed to be saying was, 'No'. I took a breath of relief. This is going to be a long, long day.
Time Skip: Lunch Break
Third Person's P.O.V.
The bell rang, signaling the start of lunch break. The Princess of Mewni, as usual, walked beside the Latino boy, holding their trays, casually chatting. They sat on the table, and began eating. "Hey, Marco... What's Valentines? Why're there hearts everywhere? Sheesh, even our trays are heart-shaped!" Star asked, her mouth half full. Marco chuckled at the blonde. "Valentines can be described as two things. Horrible, for people who are single, and, the best day ever, for couples and people in love." Marco explained bluntly. Star muttered a simple, 'Oh', before resuming their consumption of food.
"So, that's why everything around here's covered in hearts and roses, huh? And why everyone's been asking me to this 'dance' or something." She concluded.
"Mhm."
"We have something like that on Mewni. It's pretty much the same, but Valentines, Mewni style is the only time you can marry. There's also this dance. Which reminds me..." She mentally slapped herself and gasped. "Oh no! Marco, I just remembered i'm attending this dance on Mewni too..." She murmured, frowning.
"Well, when does the dance start..?" Marco asked, gobbling up what was left of his food. "After school. Oh no, I don't even have an escort..." She grimaced. "What about last time, like the Blood Moon Ball?" Marco raised an eyebrow. He suddenly remembered the memory. Star and him waltzing... The Latino had a pink tint to his cheek.
She shook her head. "Don't you remember? Tom was my escort." The princess reminded him.
Marco simply muttered an, 'Oh yeah'. They checked the clock. 12:25 PM. Marco widened hs eyes, almost choking on his mashed potatoes. "Star, we need to go right now! Lunch's over in five minutes!" He bolted out of his seat and took a run for it, grabbing Star, leaving the forgotten food behind.
Another Time Skip: Dismissal, 3:30 PM
Star's P.O.V.
"What an exhausting day... We had to run twice today, too.." I grumbled. Marco hid his hands in his hoodie pockets, exhausted aa well. "And now I ha-" I stopped mid-sentence. I saw Oskar, standing right in front of me. "Star? You okay?" Marco checked, but I wasn't paying attention. "U-uh.. Hey.. You're Butterfly, right? Star Butterfly..?" Oskar's voice sounded gruff. "Y-YES!" I said, a little too loud. Marco winced. "C-cool.. I was wondering.. If you'd like to accompany me to the Valentines Dance? It would be really cool.." Oskar mumbled. I felt like exploding, until a flash of Marco's face hit me. "Uh.. Well.." I bit my lip. Think, think, think!
Marco's P.O.V.
I felt this dull pain at the bottom of my stomach hearing Oskar ask Star to the dance. I felt furious! I am not letting Star go wi-
Whoa!
Diaz.
Why are you so mad? I had this internal argument in my brain until I heard Star's voice pipe in. "Uh.. Well... I'd love to!" I felt my heart sink. "B-but.. I already h-have a date, C'mere Marco!" She stuttered as she clung to my arm. I felt my face go as hot as the sun. I swore I saw a ting of pink on Star's hearts.
"U-uh..." I mumbled like an idiot. She strained a smile."Come on, Marco..! You've already forgotten..?" I played along."Oh..! Oh, yeah, I guess I forgot, heh..." I said. Oskar's smile became a thin line. "Oh.. Oh, okay then, it's cool... See you!" He trudged away. When he was out of sight, I shouted, "I thought you wanted to go with Oskar!" Her face seemed pink. "I was nervous, okay! I bet if that was Jackie, you'd react the same." Her face was redder as she balled her fists. I sighed. "C-c'mon. Let's get you ready for the dance.
At Home, Star's Room
"Star, you finished yet?" I sat on her bed, waiting for her to change. "Sheesh, hold on for a sec', will ya'?" She retorted. I cleared my throat.
"Hey Star.. You know.. If you want, I m-mean, you d-don't have to, because y-y'know-" I got cut off. "Spit it out, Marco!"
I took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
"Mayibeyourescortforthedance?" I said as fast as I could. Star got out from the dressing room, and she looked amazing. Her hair was curled with a tiara on top of her head, she wore an off-shoulder, sparkling blue dress, with sapphires sewed on to the top, white gloves, and silver shoes. As for her face, she had little bits of silver for eyeshadow, which made her eyes twinkle, and a layer of lip gloss.
(A/N: That's the best I could explain it, deal with it)
My jaw dropped. "Whaddya think?" She twirled. I gulped. "You look... Beautiful." I quickly regretted my words. The hearts on her cheeks seemed to redden. "Thanks, Marco. Anyway, what were you saying again?" She smiled at me. I rubbed the back of my neck.
"I was kinda hoping.. If I could be your escort for the dance." I winced. She seemed surprised at first, but then I heard a giggle. "Sure, but not in these clothes, you're not! Go change to something cool." She shooed me out of her room. I breathed a sigh I didn't even know I held back. I got to my room and searched in my closet. I picked a white tuxedo, and borrowed some hair gel (I say borrowed) from dad.
I suited up, looking at myself in the mirror. My hair was slicked back, and I actually looked like I was going to a wedding. I got out of the room, rushed downstairs and saw mom, dad and Star waiting for me in the couch.
"Well isn't our little Marco all grown up? Why didn't you tell us you were going with Star, you handsome little man!" My mom squealed. Star giggled. "Mom!" I yelled. My father playfully pushed my mother. "He doesn't want to hear that coming from his mother, Star, tell Marco he's handsome!" I went red."D-dad!" Star was now laughing nonstop. When she got up, she grabbed her dimensional scissors. "C'mon Marco. Let's go." She called me, tilting her head. I nodded. My parents were no nowhere in sight. Before I stepped in the dimension, I felt a pair of warm lips on my cheeks. When I looked back, I saw it was Star! I widened my eyes.
"Happy Valentines, Marco."
She giggled, pushing me into the dimension.
