(Well Im dead emotionally, I rewatched grave of the fireflies, wolf children, the girl who leapt through time and when Marnie was there and I cried gallons of tears)
LIFE IS MESSY FOR ME ATM BUT HEY IM BACK
Marco's P.O.V.
It was your average day at school, with a tad bit of monsters dashed into the mix. Nothing that me and Star couldn't take care of, though. The school day was over, and me and Star were walking out the building. Apparently Ferguson and Alfonzo bailed on us and borrowed Star's bike, (Much to her dismay,) so that we could have some 'alone time.' Truth be told, I was actually planning to tell Star how I felt, and...
"Hey, Marco! C'mon, stop spacing out on me like that!" I jumped as I was brought back into reality, Star glaring at me, her hands on her hips.
"Oh, sorry Star," I apologized sheepishly, rubbing my neck. She seemed satisfied by this, since she smiled at me brightly. "Alright, I forgive you! Now, go get your bike so we can go home, silly!" She said, giggling as she pushed me to my red bike. I rolled my eyes as I got on, putting on my helmet, cocking my head to the side, motioning for Star to get on behind me. Soon, I felt the weight of the bike increase, which meant she was on it. I noticed she wasn't wearing a helmet, and I frowned. "You should really wear a helmet..." I advised her. She shrugged it off, rolling her eyes, calling me a 'safe kid.' I grumbled, then I started peddling, and not long after that, the wind was on both of our faces. Star squealed, holding up her hands as if she was on a roller coaster.
"Aw, this is great! You can feel the wind on your fa-," She almost fell off the bike, only to be steadied by me. "See? This is what I'm telling you! You should be more careful," I grumbled, using my foot to stop the bike. She just laughed nervously. "Don't worry, I'm fine!" She assured, steadying herself.
I sighed, looking forward. "Now, hold on tight to me, or you're gonna fall, okay?" I soon felt a pair of arms around my waist hug me very tightly, and my face started heating up. I continued to pedal, praying that my red face wasn't that obvious. "D-Don't hold so tight, Star, people might think-," I was interrupted, hearing some of my classmates shouting "Couple!", "Lovebirds!" And whatnot.
"Stuuuupid! We're only going home, jerks!" Star shouted back, burying her face into my back, hugging me tighter. I gulped, and it took every last drop of willpower not to faint and to keep pedaling. Most of the ride was silent from that point, the sun quietly setting. Not long after that, the stars were out and there was a big, full moon. There were chirps of grasshoppers, as fireflies lit up the fields. This was a particularly different route to go home, since Star wanted to try this route, which took longer to get home rather the usual road we took.
"Hey, Marco...?" Star quietly called me, her face still in the same position earlier. "Mmm?" I hummed, hearing her every word. "You know... I like Earth..." She started, staring at the fireflies that surrounded us. I smiled softly, of course she loved it here. It was written all over her face the first time I met her.
"And, if I ever stay... I'm scared," Star's grip on my waist tightened. I slowed down the pace of the bike, wanting to hear her out. "Oh yeah? Why?" I quietly asked, awaiting her response. "I'm... I'm scared of what will happen to you, me, us, all of our friends.. Will we still be friends?" She whimpered, clinging on to me. "What do you mean by that?" I said, confused to what Star was getting at. "You know... How things change.. Maybe, what if we're not friends anymore? I like the life I have now, and I don't want it to be ruined by change!" She cried, and I could feel her shake. I completely stopped the bike by now, yet still looking straight ahead.
"I... I don't want to lose you," She whispered, her voice cracking. I turned around to face the blonde, the corner of her eyes filled with tears. I brought my hand and placed it on top of her head, slowly petting her. Star looked up at me, confused.
"Stuuuupid. We're not going to seperate, silly. We'll be together forever, won't we? Nothing will change that. I'd go through hell and back for you, and you know I don't say that to most people." I grinned, and soon, I saw her smile shakily too, as she wiped her eyes. She rubbed the back of her head, laughing softly. "S-Sorry, I got a little carried away there, huh? I guess.. All those depressing animé's you recommended got to me?" She said, punching me on the shoulder softly. I rolled my eyes, facing forwards, starting to pedal again. She placed her arms around my waist again, hugging me tightly, but not too tightly. A few blocks before we got home, Star spoke up once more."Hey... Marco. About what you said earlier.. About going through hell and back for me... Why? Why would you do that for me? After all, I'm just a girl who came barging into your life, y'know?"
"...."
"..."
"I'll tell you tomorrow."
