One Shot #14: To Make A Queen Smile (AU) [Part Two]

Third Person's P.O.V.

The two beings were in the queen's room, Star telling Marco all about earlier this day. Marco attentively listened, asking a question occasionally. "Seriously.. You gave me a heart attack, first thing in the morning, more so. I just woke up and I see you getting carried away into a carriage. That scared me." Marco admitted, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. Star just giggled. "Aw.. You do care," She said teasingly, yet on the inside, she was flattered to know that the earth boy still cared for her. There was a long, yet comfortable silence after that, until Star spoke up once more.

"Why?" She asked softly, her voice a mere whisper. Marco raised an eyebrow at her, clearly confused. "What do you mean, 'why'?"He questioned. Star sighed, letting out a breath she didn't even know she held back. "Remember when we were fourteen, when you first met me?" She smiled softly, reminiscing in the memory. Marco nodded. What an awkward first impression that was back then. A princess from another dimension, appearing out of the blue, bringing a splash of color to a normal earth boy's monotone life. They didn't see eye to eye at first, but when push came to shove, they became best of friends, and unbeknownst to the two, they happened to fall for each other. "Why.. Why did you take me in? Why did you take care of me? I was such a burden to you, now that I look back. Sucking up your whole room, breaking a portion of your house to make my room, getting you into trouble countless times.. Why? Why do you manage to bare with me, when no one else has?" A tear seemed to slip from her left cheek as she melted into Marco's chest, hitting it like a child, over and over, repeating, 'Why'. Marco thought for a moment. Star was full on sobbing by now, her salty, wet, hot tears staining Marco's tux. Marco petted her hair, trying to calm her down, as he hugged her. "Why, why, why, why.. Marco, why?" She asked with what was left of her cracking voice, her glassy sapphire eyes locked into a gaze with those chestnut brown eyes. Here Star was, the brave, bold, fun, bubbly girl who always lightened your day, the strong princess, now Queen of Mewni, weak and frail, like a little girl crying. The twin rivers coming from her eyes never seemed to stop flowing, yet Marco still found her enchantingly beautiful. Marco inched closer and closer to the crying Queen, until their foreheads touched. The blonde's shivering and sniffling seemed to stop abruptly, with in the contact of their foreheads. Yet, Marco inched a tad more closer, and their noses touched. They were so close, their lips were almost centimeters apart.

"Because.. I love you," And with that, both their lips crashed together, fireworks igniting. Marco fastened his hands to Star's waist, while Star put her hands around Marco's neck, wanting to be closer to the boy. The tender kiss lasted a few seconds, yet those were the best seconds of their lives. When they broke apart, they were both breathless. Star flushed a dark red, while Marco breathed heavily. "Whoa.. That was.. Uh, something.." Marco laughed nervously, looking down. A pair of lips suddenly came in contact with Marco's cheek, which left him puzzled and flustered. He looked to a very red Star, who tucked a stray piece of hair behind her hair.

"I love you too, Marco."
