Third Person's P.O.V.

Marco watched Star's retreating figure, walking in the portal to Mewni. The boy hid his face within his hoodie, biting his lip. Out of the corner of Marco's eye, the brunette boy saw her, not moving. She whispered something into the guard's ear which he couldn't make out, but the guard nodded reluctantly. The guard gave Star her dimensional scissors, hopping on to the portal ahead. She turned around to face Marco, their eyes both locked into a gaze. She smiled, and Marco could clearly see tears by the corners of her eyes. She closed her eyes, humming a tune. It was "You Are My Sunshine," but the duo had their own special lyrics for the song. Marco grinned softly, opening his mouth to sing.
"You are my Starshine, my only Starshine." He started, replacing 'sun,' with 'star.'
"You make me happy, when Oskar's away," She said with a giggle. Marco raised his eyebrow playfully at her, despite the sad situation.
"Only when Oskar's away?" He asked, his expression of fake hurt. This only made Star burst into a fit of laughter, at the same time tears of sadness flowing down her face. "Okay, you make me happy all the time." Marco never really had the willpower to say the next line, and they always usually skipped to the last line, but today, he was going to do it. He gulped, a nervous lump forming in his throat. "Y-You'll never k-know, Star.. H-How much I... I.. I love.. You," He stuttered out, blushing a deep red. At that very moment, Star ran to him, flinging her arms around his neck, burying her head in his shoulder. Marco felt shocked for a few moments, before returning the hug, wrapping his arms around his waist.
"Please don't take... My Starshine away.."

oooOooo

Time Skip: A Few Years Later

It's been six years since Star left Earth, yet Marco, now twenty-years-old, still held on to that tiny fraction of hope that she'd return. He didn't change much, except for him growing a tad bit taller, and his voice deeper. His profession was that of a businessman, a quite famous one too. One day, he was in a café, drinking coffee. His thoughts were lingering to a certain blonde that changed his life, a small smile creeping up on to his lips. His eyes widened when he heard a familiar tune. He looked up to see a pair of dazzling, blue orbs gazing right back at his brown ones, hearts below her eyes, right on the apples of her cheeks. Up on her face was a big, bright smile which he knew only his best friend could muster. Instead of a devil-horned headband up on her blonde hair, a crown took its place. Marco had a wide grin plastered on his face, one almost as wide as Star's.
"Why, hello. What are you?" He asked so politely, his eyes shining with excitement. Star giggled, twirling around, only to make a rainbow on fire.

"I'm a magical Queen, from another dimension."
