Star's P.O.V.
I've never felt so nervous in my entire life. It was the day of the talent show in Echo Creek High, and me and Marco lost the lyrics to the song, along with the chords! And, does Marco know? Haha, of course he knows,- yeah, scratch that he doesn't know. But I plan to tell him! (Yeah, scratch that again, I'm never telling him.) I was clutching the earth instrument called a 'ukelele.' I saw Marco walking up to me, all dressed formal.
"So, you ready?" He asked me, grinning. Crud, not good. Okay, I've got this, just don't tell him-
"UH, I KINDA MESSED UP AND LOST THE LYRICS AND CHORDS!" I blurted out, before I widened my eyes, as I clamped my mouth shut. Uh oh. To make matters worse, we were the first presentors. Marco dropped his jaw, his eyes almost as big as mine. I bit my lip, as I gave a nervous smile. "D-Don't worry! We can improvise!" I stammered. After what seemed like hours of hyperventilating for Marco, he took a deep breath, and gave me a nod.
"O-Okay. I trust you on this," He let out with a shaky breath. "Oh come on, we're the mess-up twins! We,- Oh..." I scoffed, before realizing what kind of twins we were.
"And now, for out first presentors, Marco Ubaldo Diaz, and Star Butterfly!" We both simultaneously gulped, walking, well, stumbling into the stage hand-in-hand. Marco took his seat as I took mine, preparing my ukelele. Marco looked at me for assurance. I gave out a warm, reassuring smile. Well, this will go horribly wrong. I started strumming my ukelele, sprouting out random chords.
"Do you want to go first..? 'Cause I'm happy to wait, I practiced really hard, but I'm finding it strange to start with you," Marco started, going in tune with the music. "So, how does it go? I've forgotten the tune, I haven't warmed up today, so I might sound a bit strange.. Yes, I do.." I admitted sheepishly. I opened my mouth once more to sing, along with Marco. I picked up my strumming."'Cause (I) can, (sing), I swear it's true, I'm just a little nervous.. In front of you." We both chimed in perfect sync, looking at each other briefly before looking away, my face red. I swore I saw a tinge of pink on Marco's cheeks, but it could've been the lighting.
"So, who's on the third? I think I'm better at me-lo-dy," Marco asked. "Although I'm going to get it wrong, shall we try another song?" He suggested. I shook my head, glaring at him. "No? Okay."
"Let's just go for a take, and see how we sound!" I encouraged, not wanting to end it so soon. "My heart is beating fast, oh vocal chords please last! Here we go.." I prayed, biting my lip. Here we go, the chorus once more. I sped up my pace of strumming."'Cause (I) can, (sing), I swear it's true, I'm just a little nervous.. in front of you." We sang once more.
A lightbulb appeared over my head. Time to make the song a tad more interesting. "Ah, do, do, do, do," I hummed. I glanced to Marco, who got the plan. "Ah, do, do, do, do," He repeated. "Ah, do, do, do, do," I repeated again, making some of the 'do's,' a bit more high pitched. "Ah, do, do, do, do, Aaah," Marco trailed off, holding the, 'Aaah,'. I soon followed, letting out an, 'Aaah,' of my own. "La, da, da, da, da," He sang as his voice cracked at the last line. I struggled to hide a giggle, as Marco winced, but not visible to the audience, glaring at me as he stuck out his tongue. "Haaa," I murmured. The rhythm was going up and up.
"Ooooh,"
"Ooooh,"
"Haahaa.." I returned the strumming to its original pace.
"Hey we sound good," I complimented. "Yeah, we sound good," Marco agreed, flashing a grin at me. "Yeah, we sound good.." I prolonged the, 'good.' I looked at Marco challengingly. "We sound so good," He tried to over-sing me. "Yeah, we sound good..." I prolonged for as long as possible. "La, da, da, da, da," We both hummed.
"Yeah, we sound so good,""We sound good.."
"Yeah..! Ooh.."
"Yeah,"
"La, da, da, da, da, (Oooooh!)"
"Da, da, da, da, da, da, (Yeah, we sound good,)"
"(Yeah, yeah,) Yeah, we sound good..!"
"YEAH, WE SOUND GOOOOD!"
"YEAH, YEAH, We sound so good!"
"WE SOUND GOOOOOOOOOD...!" Everyone went silent at my outburst. I bet I was as red as the blood moon. After a while, I strummed my ukelele once more, wincing.
"I think I messed up.. I just wanted to improvise.." I mumbled, looking down. "Shall we try another day..?" I asked hopefully, looking at Marco.
"I.. Think I sounded great," He shrugged, not singing. Gee, thanks for the support, Marco. I grumbled as I shot daggers at him, strumming the chorus one last time.
"'Cause (I), can, (sing), I swear it's true.." I look to a Marco and smile, as he smiles back. We take a deep breath before finishing, looking away from each other nervously.
"I'm just a little nervous.. In front of you."
