"Quick, bring her to E.R.!"..."Add an extra dose of morphine, she's waking up"..."Okay, nearly done"..."No, we're losing her!" Beeeeeeeeeeep

Naya POV

I was ready to make the transaction, when suddenly I had a phone call. "The transaction is cancelled, Steffie is in hospital" then it clicked off and I only heard the dial tone. "DEMI!" I screamed for her, rapidly collecting my purse and car keys. "Hospital, now!" I yelled, not waiting for her to reply. It has been three days without her. I thought they'd call for the transfer information, instead they call to inform she's hurt. "Nay, calm down, plus I'll drive, you're a way too stressed" Demi said, stopping me from getting behind the wheel. Reluctantly I gave her my keys, getting in the passenger's seat instead. "Please hurry" I begged her, trying to calm down again.

Twenty minutes later we arrived at the hospital, I rushed to the reception. "My girlfriend should be in here. Steffie Vanmuysen" I told him without thinking it through. "Miss Rivera, please calm down, I'm sure your em, girlfriend will be alright" he replied, taken aback a bit. Demi rushed to my side, taking me to the waiting area. "What's going on? They said they wouldn't hurt her" I cried on her shoulder, only thinking about Steffie. "She's a fighter, she'll be okay, plus we don't know what's happened yet. She might be just fine, think positive Nay" Demi tried to comfort me, holding me tight. I flinched when she hugged me, but relaxed as I understood she just wanted to be here for me right now. Oh boy I wish she was right about Steffie.

"Visitors for Steffie Vanmuysen?" the receptionist asked. Immediately I rose to my feet, Demi trailing along. "That's us" I told him as we stood at the desk. "Are you family?" he asked. "No, I told your colleague before, I'm her girlfriend" I said, getting annoyed, I just wanted to see her already. "I'm sorry Miss, but only family is allowed" he said, looking away from us, concentrating on his paperwork again. "Too bad, but she doesn't have any here in America. She's from Europe you know, well you should know if you had her files that is. Can I see her now?" I was really getting impatient and I was ready to smack his face. "Please sir, we really need to see her" Demi interrupted, pulling me back a little, sensing I was ready to hurt the guy. "Alright then, I don't know anything about her condition though, but there should be a doctor around in the hallway she's staying in" he said, "She's on the second floor, room 9A" he added, dismissing us.

Demi and I ran up the stairs, too impatient to wait for the elevator. "I hope she's okay. I really hope she's okay" I kept repeating to myself. "Nay," Demi interrupted my tantrum, "the doctor is here". "Excuse me sir, do you have any news on the patient from room 9A?" I asked him, grabbing Demi's hand for support. "9A? The young European woman who was brought here by two men? The one who was sexually assaulted?" He asked the both of us. "Ouch! Naya!" Demi yelped, yanking her hand away from mine. "S-Sorry" I mumbled, spacing out, this isn't true. He must be talking about someone else. The guy at the reception must have given us the wrong room. Barely aware of what was going on, I was lead into the room.

Blidibeep. Blidibeep. Blidibeep. Blidibeep.

I heard the rhythmic sound of the machines, I heard it, but I didn't comprehend what was happening. I was in shock when I saw her face, covered in bruises and cuts. What had happened? I swear to God if I ever find out who did this to her I'll sue their asses and make sure they won't ever be able to anything like this again. Demi pulled up a seat next to her bed, softly stroking her hand. I didn't have time to think about it, I went back outside, searching for the doctor. "Excuse me, miss? Do you know where the doctor is who treated this patient?" I asked a nurse who came out of another room. "I can beep him up on is pager if you want me to?" she asked, earning a smile from me. "Please do, I mean that is if you don't know who brought the patient from 9A in?" I asked hopeful. "No, I'm sorry, I only just started my shift, but I'll let the doctor come to the room. 9A was it right?" "Yes, and thank you very much" I told her, before going back to the room. She smiled friendly, grabbing her pager and left soon after.

"So what do we do now Nay?" Demi asked, looking at me. "Do you want to sit? I think you're getting nervous again" she told me, quickly getting up. "I'm fine Dems, really, don't worry about me" Demi wouldn't let go though and practically forced me on the chair. I smiled weakly at her, mumbling out a thank you. "You know I'm happy to help Naya, us being ex-girlfriends is just in the past now. As long as you don't think this is weird or awkward, I'll be here for you" she said, leaning against the wall. "Do you have any idea who the guy is? I mean you mentioned a guy before?" she asked, making me think back about the conversation. "She said, she didn't know him, but I think she just said that to calm me down. Guess that didn't work out too well" I sighed, looking at her, getting lost in my thoughts.

"Hello? You asked me to come here?" the doctor asked, making me look up. "Yes, I'd like to know a bit more about the men who brought her in? And maybe what her condition is now? I mean if you're able to tell that" I asked, holding Steffie's hand, still looking at the doctor.

"I don't know much about the men, but I do know they were fighting. Don't ask me about what, but it did seem one of the two was furious at the other because of this event. After Miss Vanmuysen was put here in the hospital the angry man asked us to make sure she'd be alright again. About her condition...she's had a severe concussion, probably caused by lots of hits to the face, that's also how she got those cuts. She had several bite marks over her torso and legs, plus long scars over her inner thighs as well. It looks like they tried to rape her, but eventually they didn't. She'll be out of consciousness for at least a few days, since we're keeping her in an artificial coma. It might be she has some memory loss, but we can only know about that when she wakes up" he informed us, looking up from the board at the end from her bed. "Oh, it is possible that she doesn't remember anything from the events, it happens sometimes with traumas like these. Also I see they lost her for a moment while operating on her, but normally that shouldn't have an effect on her current condition. I hope that helped you out?" he concluded, looking at the both of us for confirmation. Demi was the first to reply, softly nodding her head, meaning she got it all. "Y-Yes, thank you doctor" she said, sliding down the wall when the doctor left.

What the hell happened? Where did this all go south so far? At least one of the kidnappers was feeling guilty about this all, or should I say a little human. "Should we inform her family?" I finally asked Demi, not looking away from Steffie, my eyes getting blurry with tears. "I think we should wait until she wakes up, and let her decide, from what I've heard, her family and she don't really have a good connection" she replied weakly. "I'll get something to drink, do you want something?" "Just a coffee or something?" "I'll be right back" Demi said, getting up and leaving the room, silently closing the door behind her.

"God, please let her recover quickly. I only had her for myself a few hours, don't let me regret waiting" I mumbled, laying my head on the mattress next to her, my fingers entwined with hers. "Please, I'do anything to have her back in my arms" I closed my tear filled eyes, crying myself to sleep next to her.
