Steffie POV
I'm currently working on my paper, but my mind keeps drifting off, so I decide to go outside and have a walk. Maybe I should bring my inline skates over or just buy some new ones, since the others are quite old already. Instead of walking I decide to take the car, since her school's almost over and drive over there. While waiting for her I listen to the radio, keeping my ears open for any news on Demi's upcoming concerts.
The school bell startles me, making me jump a little, after knowing where I am I hear a knock on my window, making me jump again. "Hey there lazy ass, I thought you were working on your paper" I hear MacKenzie say through the closed window. I grin, opening the door. "Yeah, yeah, I got bored then fell asleep" I told her. She looked over her shoulder, making me frown. "Are you waiting on someone?" I asked her, but I didn't need a reply. She suddenly jumped in the car, waving at some boy, then telling me to drive us home. Okay, weird.
I decided to drop it and just drive home, on the way there I stopped at Walmart, since I really needed some cookies. "Do you think we need to buy something for your mum as well?" I asked her. "Uh, no idea actually, want me to call her?" she replied taking out her phone, seeing she had a message. "No, it's alright, we'll come back if she needs anything" I told her, paying for my cookies. I walked out, seeing she wasn't really following me. "Kenzie? Are you coming?" I asked while turning around. "Sorry, had a message I needed to reply to. But yeah, cool we'll come back later today I guess." she replied, still looking at her screen. I shook my head, going to the car, waiting for her to get in and took off, driving home.
"Ah Steffie, I don't know if MacKenzie told you about it, but this singer is coming to Springfield... Em MacKenzie, what's her name again, Demi something...?" her mum asked us when we got back home. "Oh you mean, Demi Lovato? Yes, she told me about her this morning. Why do you ask, ma'am?" I replied, taking off my shoes, getting more comfortable. "Well I think MacKenzie would love to go, but nor her father nor I can take her..." she told me, going into the kitchen. I followed her telling her we already discussed that earlier today, that I would buy the meet and greet and my own ticket if she'd buy her own ticket. She agreed, saying she really appreciated it because she knew how much Demi meant to MacKenzie. "Could you maybe go to Walmart, to get some stuff for dinner and well the whole week, her father and I are leaving on a trip and since MacKenzie still has school she can't come with us." she asked me, giving a note with ingredients and other stuff to buy. "Oh em okay, where are you guys going, if you don't mind me asking?" I asked, looking up from the note. "We're going to Texas, for her father's work." she answered me, smiling lightly. "I suppose I can trust you two, no parties while we're gone, no boyfriends coming over, no friends coming over, unless we know them. MacKenzie should know the other rules and I trust her to tell you them." she added, smiling more. "Oh em alright, I'll ask her when we're doing the shopping list" I smiled back at her, turning to put my shoes back on. No boyfriends... HAH if only she knew I'm a lesbian, she wouldn't have to say that...
MacKenzie and I return to Walmart, gathering everything from the shopping list. "So your mum told me they're going to Texas and that there are a lot of rules you'd inform me of" I told her, grabbing some cereals. "Yup, welcome to my home I guess, there probably is a rule for everything, so if you're not sure, ask away" she answered, tossing me a box of noodles. "You're lucky I caught it" I smirked at her, scratching noodles from the list. An hour later we had everything from the list. "Anything else you want? The list is completed, but I'm sure you want to eat something else than vegetables all week." I said, turning around to look at her. What are the odds, that guy from earlier today is here as well, talking to MacKenzie. I walk over to them, wanting to know who he is. "...so that's settled then, tomorrow, after orchestra?" I heard him say, before he left. MacKenzie turned around, looking at me" "What did you hear?" confused I answered what I heard, getting back to the shopping cart, asking her again if she needed something else. "Hmm, maybe some candy from America, you know, to get you used to it all" she said smirking, running off to the right alley, grabbing bags and boxes of candy I had never seen before.
When we had everything we got to the car and drove home again. "Do I finally get to know who that boy was? I saw you guys after school" I explained her, when she gave me a confused look. "Oooh, that's just Darren you know, we work together on a project." she said, looking out of the window. "That's why your conversation earlier was private?" I giggled. "OK fine, he asked me who would buy me the meet and greet tickets and he wouldn't stop whining, that's why I waited before entering the car. But earlier at Walmart that was really about the project, it's just about someone I know you'd freak out about, so I didn't want to get you involved in the conversation or we would have never left" she ended in a big grin, earning a slap on the back of her head from me. "Hey! Not cool!" she yelled. "What goes around comes around" I teased, stopping the car, getting all the stuff out.
"Want to make dinner together? Or do you have things to do for your project?" I asked her, taking my shoes off again, feeling more comfy in the house already. "Nah, Darren and I have to do it together so I can help, but if you need to work on your paper, I could do it by myself you know" she replied, putting some groceries away. "Pssh, I should be doing some work today, but ugh it's due to another 3 months so... And I'm pretty sure your mum doesn't want you to cook by yourself" I laughed, remembering some of the rules.
