Steffie POV
After work I returned home, it was an interesting day; the principle told me to sit in the auditorium, when she held her morning speech to the children, so I could get an overall idea of the school rules.
The moment I opened the door I knew Naya had left, the door was locked and there was no sign of Naya. When I checked my phone for any missed texts or calls, my mood dropped a little, the only messages I got were from Sam to wish me luck on my first day. Maybe I should go to her work to see how she is doing.I left my apartment around 6pm, taking a cab, since I didn't know how crowded it would be at the restaurant. When Sam saw me entering she waved and smiled big at me, but when she read my face, her smile turned into a frown. "What's wrong hun, didn't your day go as planned?" she asked, while giving me a menu. "It was alright, I guess my expectations of getting home were a bit too high" I answered, thinking of my empty apartment. "You mean no one was there when you got back? Wait of course no one would be there, I'm working here and Daniel and Julie are God knows where" I smiled at her, shoving her lightly. "You know I meant Naya, but I could have expected that, I mean why would she want to stay in my apartment all day, all by herself?" When I said that Sam pulled a face, looking guilty. "She wasn't alone when she left hun" Sam told me, "I saw her leaving with this blonde chick, I don't know who she is, I didn't get a clear view of her face, but they seemed to know each other pretty well" she added, before she got interrupted. "Samantha! Get back to work, there are a lot of costumers waiting for their order!" her boss yelled. She looked startled, quickly taking my order, getting back to work.
A blonde hmm and they knew each other well? Shrugging, I waited for Sam to come back with my order, while observing people in the restaurant. I know it's a creepy habit, can't help it, it's a part of my job to observe people. And hey, it's fun to do, just make sure you don't keep staring at one person for too long.
"Here's your order" a waiter said, placing my food in front of me, with a smile I thanked him, wondering where Sam went off to. A minute later she sat opposite me, taking a sip from her drink.
"Didn't you have to take some more orders?" I asked her, surprised she sat at my table. "He forgot you were my last costumer, plus I deserve a break don't I?" she answered taking another sip from her coffee. "So tell me Steffie, what's putting that frown on your face?" she asked, observing my actions. For a moment I didn't know how or even what to reply. "It's that girl who's bothering you, am I right? The blonde I mean" she added to clarify her question. "What? No, no that's not it. I mean Naya can date whoever she wants, right? I mean it's not like her and I are dating" I replied, "Or ever will be together for that matter"
Sam shook her head smiling weirdly at me. "What?!" "Oh come on Steffie, it's so damn obvious, you two like each other a lot, but the only two not knowing it are the two of you. You're kind of like Sonny and Chad from Sonny with a chance, you remember the episode with Selena Gomez?" she explained, her face so serious, it made me laugh. "Yeah right and you, Daniel and Julie are Tawny, Nico and Grady?" Sam grinned, not saying anything. "And if she likes me that much, then why is she with that blonde girl?" I asked her, trying to prove my point here. "Because, because,..." Sam started, but slouched down in the chair, not knowing how to answer my question. "See, Naya is not into me Sam" I told her, crushing one of my own dreams, "No matter how much I wish it was that way". Suddenly my phone rang, "Sorry Sam, I really have to take this one, I hope it won't be long"
S- Katrien? Hi! How are you?
K- Hey, I'm doing alright thank you, how about you though? What are you up to, where are you?
S- Wow, slow down with the questions, I'm doing just peachy, I just got back from my first day at the Chapin private school. But right now I'm in the Fiat Café with my friend Sam.
K- Wait, wait, private school? Fiat Café? Where are you?
S- I'm in Manhattan.
K- Manhattan?! Manhattan, New York?
S- No, Manhattan, Antwerp. Of course in New York, I'm finally where I should be.
K- That's amazing! But you're not staying at a hotel are you?
S- No, no, I have bought an apartment here, not too far from the Café actually.
K- Great! Listen I'm coming to New York City in a few days, do you think we could meet up?
S- Really? That's awesome! I can't wait to see you again.
K- Don't make me blush now sweetie, but I do have a few meetings, after that I'm free to do whatever you like.
S- Super, if you mail me your flight schedule, I can come and collect you from the airport, so you don't have to take a taxi?
K- That would be wonderful! I'll see you then sweetie.
S- Lovely, see you then!
When I turned off my phone, Sam looked at me questionably, "Who was that sweetie?" she mocked, smiling widely at me, "Was it the little hot devil we were just talking about?" she added, teasing me even more. "Oh shush Sam, it was Katrien, you know my 'sister' from Belgium," I told her honestly, rolling my eyes at her side remarks, "She's coming over in a few days for work, but she said we can meet up and hang out for a while" I added, smiling, thinking about how amazing it would be to hang out with Katrien again, just like the old days.
After finishing my food, Sam cleaned up and we headed back home together. "Do you want to do something tonight? Or do you need an early bed, because of work tomorrow?" Sam asked, leaning against the door that lead to her apartment, opposite of mine. "Actually I'm free, I only have to go to the school on Mondays and when they call me for a meeting or something. So basically I'll be working from my room or maybe in the café when you're working?" I told her, while thinking about things we could fill the evening with. "You know what, I'll be with you in a few, I'm going to put on some more comfortable clothes, because damn this uniform is annoying" she told me, turning around to open her door and to get inside.
A few minutes later there was a knock on my door, "It's open Sam!" I yelled at her from the couch. "Movie night?" she asked, while jumping in the couch next to me. "I was thinking more of TV-shows?" I proposed, looking at her face to see her reaction, which was priceless. "YAAS! Oh God, put Netflix on, we can watch Sonny with a chance and laugh all evening!" she replied giddily, almost jumping in her seat. "Okaay, I was thinking more of crime shows, such as CSI and CSI New York, but SWAC is good as well" I replied, while pulling the blanket up to my chin, turning the TV on and letting the series play.
"Nothing beats fetus Demi, isn't it sweetie?" she teased, poking me. "You are horrible, how do I even put up with you?" I asked rhetorically. She just grinned at me, while coming closer, wrapping her arms around my neck and kissed my cheek, "I know you love meeee" she said in a singsong voice. Playfully I pushed her back in her place, turning my attention back to the episode, laughing at Sonny who was totally freaking out about meeting Chad. "Yeah yeah, you're adorable, now shush and watch or I put you at my door" I replied, pulling her back again, to cuddle with her.
