MacKenzie POV

I'll admit, I like her, no I love her, but as a sister, not as a girlfriend. I mean she's cool and all and I'm protective over her, even though she's older than me. Anyway, maybe that's one of the reasons as well, she's older than me, she has done a lot more than me, she's been to college, is about to graduate from it even, when I haven't even passed half of high school. I have to tell her sometime, but I'm not sure yet how.

My parents are gone for a few days already, most of the days she's been working on her paper, and according to her it's nearly finished. I wouldn't know, it's all gibberish to me, I can only understand some of tables and graphs. I know her subject is about the effects of physical exercise on depression, but that's all I can figure out of it. In the meantime, I have been going to school every day. Yaay! Hope you notice the sarcasm. Anyway Steffie has been asking about my project, that wasn't really a good excuse, since there is no project, Darren wanted to meet because I had to sort out some packages. I shouldn't have accepted it, as I said last time that it would indeed be the last time I did it for him. It's not like I didn't get anything from him, I got a small piece of the stack, but I really want to stop doing it, and I don't want to get caught by Steffie, she would no doubt tell my parents. No idea how I did it, but I've kept it a secret for about 3 years now.

The stash is in my room now, but in my secret hiding spot, I do however have to deliver it today. I'll ask Steffie if she wants to take me, no need in telling her where I have to go to. I went to our room where she was typing away. "Knock knock" I said. "Hey Kenzie, what's up?" she answered, turning around. "Could you maybe take me somewhere? I want to drive myself, but I'm not allowed to drive alone yet" I told her, grabbing my backpack so I could stuff the stash in there. "Sure, just a minute so I can finish this paragraph" she said, turning back to her laptop. "Thanks" I replied, quickly going to my secret spot, filling my bag. "I'll wait in the living room" I told her, also grabbing some socks, putting them on. She mumbled a replied, comparing what looked like two very alike graphs.

Five minutes later, she came out of the room, grabbing her purse and car keys. "Ready?" she asked. "I was ready five minutes ago" I told her, making her roll her eyes. "Whatever, I just wanted to be sure" she said, putting on her shoes and going outside. I shrugged, following her, hopping in the passenger's seat. "So where do I have to drop you off?" Steffie asked, turning the engine on. "I'll tell you where to go. Well I'll point in the right direction" I teased her, remembering she had troubles with left and right.

"How did you even pass your driver's exam? I mean you're a good driver, but isn't knowing left from right, the basics?" I asked her after a while. "I know, I know, I can tell left from right, sometimes I just have troubles with them. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and I passed my exam the third time I did it..." she told me, mumbling something after it. "Sorry what was the last thing?" I asked her, looking at her. "I said that it wasn't even my fault I didn't pass the two first times, well maybe the first time, but the second wasn't my fault at all. The examiner just wanted me to take some extra driving lessons so I had to pay for it... I could have passed the first time, but it was all hot in the car and I was super nervous so it wasn't really my fault" she explained. "So basically you're saying the failed you on purpose so you had to give them more money?" I asked, hearing her hum in agreement. "Wow ok, I hope that doesn't happen to me" I told her. "Well as long as you practice enough and maybe spend a few hours in driving school, you should be ok. It's mostly because you didn't spend the hours in driving school that makes them fail you" she said, making me roll my eyes. "That's not fair at all" I said, looking outside. "Well sometimes life isn't fair" she laughed, looking at me "Are we still going in the right direction? I'm kind of lost" she said, making me chuckle. "We're good, just take a right turn here, you know the side where I'm sitting" I said, seeing we were where we should be. "I don't know how long it'll take but it won't be longer than an hour, can you wait here?" I asked, hopping out of the car as soon as she parked it. She nodded and then I took off to the house on the other side of the street.

Forty minutes later I was back, she was lying on the hood of her car, her back against her windshield, the sun in her face. "Sorry it took so long, they needed to know if they got everything" I said, waiting for her to get off of the hood and to open the door. "It's ok, but come here and have a seat" she said, patting the space on the hood next to her. I climbed on the car, crossing my legs. "Em, what are we doing here?" I asked a bit unsure. "Just relax will you, I just want to ask you something and please be honest with me?" she asked. "Well em, depending on the question I'll answer you" I told her honestly, sensing the direction we were going in. "Did you just deliver some coke? And I don't mean the soda" she asked, catching me off guard. "I em, I don't want to answer that question" I told her, getting off the hood. "Now open the car, I want to go home". She got off, sighing, but opened the car, getting in herself when I did. "You know, by giving me that answer I know enough" she told me, looking at me, trying to get my attention. "Well yay for you, you got the first price, you got the answer right!" I snapped. "Look Kenzie, I care for you ok, I don't want you to end up in jail" she said, keeping her voice down. "I don't want you to care for me, I can take care of myself damnit! What do I have to do to prove this?" I yelled in her face, making her pull back. "Whatever, show me the directions to get home, I'm not telling your parents, as long as you promise it's the last time" she said, looking straight forward. I was a bit taken aback by her decision, but I guess she didn't have any proof so how would my parents believe her anyway.

As I told her the directions home I was searching for a way to apologise, I stepped over the line. I wouldn't have done it normally, but I was just shocked she found out about it. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you. I was just shocked you found out after one time, while my parents haven't noticed a thing in the three years I've done this" I told her fiddling with my hands. She suddenly hit the brakes, catching me off guard again "Three years!? Kenzie what were you thinking?" she asked, trying to keep her voice down. "I needed money and my parents didn't give me enough" I told her, half the truth. "What did you need the money for? Don't tell me you use it yourself" she kept pushing. "Fine I'll tell you, but not here, not now. Can we please go home now?" I asked her, dying to go home and create some space between us again. Guess I'm not the only one who's protective over someone.

We got home, me running out of the car immediately with my backpack over my shoulder, opening the front door. When I put it back in the closet I called Bubbles and prepared myself to have a walk with her. In the meantime Steffie had come in and told me she would start the preparing for tonight's dinner. I nodded and walked out after hearing her say the talk wasn't over yet. Just my luck, she might be clumsy, but she pays attention too...
