Naya POV

While being on the boat, the wind pulling on my scarf and clothes, I was thinking about my feelings for Demi. I have to admit, they were slipping away pretty fast after Demi's concert in Springfield. It's just that we weren't together for that long and we were always travelling separately across the country for our jobs, which made it hard to actually be together and work on our feelings. But now I realise that Steffie is a great girl. She's sweet, cute and funny and she's just different. When we met at Glee it was a bit of a difficult start, but I think that is normal since she met a ton of celebrities on one day, making her a bit nervous, and now she's pretty much used to us. I think it's so sweet of her to take my mind off of Demi and our breakup. Which still hurt me pretty bad, mostly because of the way it all happened, but like said before, my feelings for Demi weren't really there anymore.

When we got on the Island, Steffie and I were goofing off, taking pictures of me and the Statue of Liberty, when actually the tour guide was all ready to begin. "LADIES please don't make me raise my voice again, we're starting the tour" he said, pulling our attention. We joined the group, holding back our giggles. I was planning on trailing a bit behind the group, but Steffie meant business and went to the front of the group, consuming every word from the guide. It was actually cute to see, her little nods every time she got it or her silent gasps when she thought the way the immigrants were treated was wrong.

At the end of the tour we went back outside to discover more of the Island. There's a long wall, the Wall of Honour, with names written down of passengers who were on the ships that came to the Island. Steffie was really excited about this and went to look up her last name, to see if any of her family members arrived here as well. "Oh God! There are some who share the same name, but I'm not sure if it's really family of mine" she suddenly yelled, bringing me back to Earth. I smiled at her, getting behind her on the computer. "That's nice, want to go look for them on the wall?" I asked her, levelling my head with hers. "Yeah! And I want a picture with the wall!" she told me, totally excited. I giggled at her reaction, grabbing her hand, taking her and myself by surprise, but we both shrugged it off and walked over to the wall where she posed with it after looking up the names.

"Did you see any Riveras?" I asked her, when I walked up to her, showing her the pictures I just took. "Well yes, but there are so many, and I don't know if they're related to you" she answered, smiling at the pictures, looking up at me. Then she grabbed my hand and led us to the quay where we would wait for the boat to bring us to Liberty Island. I smiled to myself, enjoying how our hands fit nicely together. "Em Naya..?" Steffie started, but went silent again, not starting another sentence. We just looked over the water, watching the ferry come closer and closer.

When we arrived at Liberty Island we immediately went up to the Statue. "Wow this thing looks even bigger up close" Steffie mumbled, making me chuckle. "Well yes, what did you expect? Something around 20 feet?" I joked, making her glare at me. "Hah hah, I know it's about 300 feet, but you know what I mean" she said, nudging me playfully. "Alright smartass, want to go up to the crown?" I asked her, looking up to the crown, holding my scarf a little tighter. "Yes! Oh my God! I bet the view up there must be great, since there are no clouds and all" Steffie said excitedly, practically jumping up and down. "I'm already enjoying the view though" she mumbled almost inaudibly, making me smile.

"Let's go, we have about 2 hours before the ferry returns to the main land again" I told her, walking up to the main lobby where we could take the stairs to the crown. When we arrived at the lobby I saw signs to let everything in a locker apart from one camera per person, so I took out my phone and watched Steffie doing the same. "Our stuff will fit in one locker right?" she asked me, holding out her hand to put my purse in the same locker as her. "Of course, do you have the money?" I replied, handing over my purse, putting my phone in my pocket. She nodded, locking the locker and put the key in her pocket as she did the same with her phone. "Are you ready for the climb?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows at me. I laughed at the sight and told her I was, going to the stairs. "You're not dizzy easily I hope?" I asked her, while she looked up at the stairs. "Eh no, but I might be a bit afraid of heights" she admitted, with a slight smile. "Don't worry about that, you can go first, I'm right behind you" I told her, waiting for her to start climbing. "And don't worry about me leaving, because you have the keys, I have nowhere to go" I added trying to make her smile and reassure her it would be alright.

About 400 steps later, I lost the count after 200, we were at the top. "Pfew we made it!" I heard Steffie yell, a bit out of breath. I quickly followed her to enjoy the view. "This really is an epic view up here! There's Ellis Island, want a picture with it?" Steffie asked, laughing at how we already made a sort of photo shoot at Ellis Island. "Well there's no one that needs our attention now, so we have all the time we need" I smiled at her, getting to the window like holes in the crown and smiled big at her. We even took a few pictures together and after looking around a bit more and taking some panorama pictures we decided to go back down and explore a bit more at the museum in the pedestal.

An hour or two later we climbed back on board of the ferry, that'd bring us to the main land again. We stood at the railing like we did earlier because it was boiling hot inside the ferry. As I turned to look at Steffie, she was facing the water again, lost in her thoughts. I took the advantage and studied her features. As I was looking her up and down, she suddenly turned her head and looked at me, blushing a little. "What are you looking at?" she asked, turning her whole body, now facing me. "I wasn't looking at anything, I em-", "Doesn't matter anyway, are you coming to the exit, we're almost there" she interrupted me, holding out her hand for me to take. When I took her hand, I smiled again feeling how nicely our hands fit together.

We got off the ferry and walked back to the car. "Em Naya? C-Can I drive?" she asked me, how cute was that little stutter? Anyway I shook my head rapidly to come back to Earth, "Hmm do you have your driver's license?" I asked her, not wanting to end up in a car accident. She nodded and went to grab her wallet, but I stopped her, saying I believed her. "Catch" I said, throwing her my keys, which she caught in both hands. "Thank you! I've always wanted to drive this badass car!" she yelled, with a big smile on her face, really this girl. She walked to the passenger's seat and opened the door, holding it open for me, "ladies first" she said, making me smile as I thanked her. She ran around the hood and got in, cranking up the engine. "Damn I love that sound" she mumbled, while getting her seat in the right place and made sure everything was in order to drive.

When we arrived back at my apartment, I frowned a little, since I was confused, "Weren't we supposed to go to the ground zero museum?" I asked her a bit surprised. "Well I thought maybe we could do that another time, if that's alright with you? We should really talk about what happened earlier" she started, looking at me, "I know it won't be easy, but you know, I feel like it's really necessary" she added, biting her inner cheek, showing me she was nervous. I let out a sigh, nodding slightly, "I guess you're right, let's go inside and get a bit more comfortable" I replied, going out of the car, searching for my keys. Opening the front door of my apartment, I told Steffie to get comfortable on the couch while I went to the kitchen for some water. "Alright let's get this over with then" I said, as I sat down next to her, handing her a glass of water.
