Steffie POV
It's been a few weeks here in New York, I'm settled, got a part time job as a waitress and paid attention to the newspapers, searching for a steady job. Eventually I looked up some schools and decided to go there immediately and gave them my curriculum and hoped for a call back.
Tonight I'm going out with some of my neighbours, the ones who live above me and the ones on the other side of the lift. They live here for about seven years so they know the neighbourhood like the back of their hand. I'm not that much of a party animal, but I like to go out once in a while, and to be honest it's been a while, since I was always busy with college.
Around 10pm I was ready, wearing a red skater skirt with a black blouse and black leather jacket. As I waited for my neighbours, I checked my purse, not wanting to forget anything. "Hey Steffie! You look ready to party" Daniel said, twirling me around. "Yep, it's been a while and I just need to go out" I answered, looking at his outfit; dark jeans and a jean shirt. "You look handsome" I complimented, giving him a shy smile. "Thanks, I really love your jacket" he said, wrapping an arm around my waist, waiting for Samantha and Julie to come down. "Hey girls!" he called when they joined us, "Ready to go?" he added, grabbing Samantha by her waist as well, who was linked to Julie. "Of course, so where are we going?" Julie asked, looking at Daniel. "We'll take a cab to Cielo, because you girls are wearing heels and I can't carry the both of you" he laughed, walking outside with the three of us, into the cab which he had ordered previously.
It was a short drive and to be honest, if it was only me in the cab I wouldn't have taken it. Seriously the driver gave me the creeps. Anyway, we arrived at the club and went inside, welcoming the blasting music. Good thing I had their numbers in case of emergency, because there was a huge crowd already. The dj was playing some House and more of his own mixes. Normally I'd be very shy around so much people, but tonight I didn't really know anyone so I set my mind on party mode and went over to the dance floor, getting lost in the music.
Suddenly the music changed to a slow song, so I hurried myself from the dance floor, to the bar ordering an alcohol free cocktail, looking around to see Samantha and Julie dancing together. Daniel sat next to me, following my gaze. "They're just friends you know, they know each other from when they were in preschool" he explained, I just nodded, looking at him. "Don't you need to dance with someone?" I asked him, making him blush. "I can't slow" he admitted, making me laugh. "Aw come on, it's so easy" I teased, finishing my drink. "Yeah? Will you teach me then?" he asked, smirking. "Sneaky, but sure let's go before the song ends" I said, grabbing his hand and led him to the dance floor.
A few hours later we got back to the exit, Julie and Samantha pretty hammered, Daniel was getting drunk, but could still walk straight and I was sober, since I don't drink. We each took a girl and led them to the street, hailing a cab. "Yo cabby! Bring us home!" Julie shouted in the direction of a cab, making Samantha laugh. "You dumbass, the windows are closed, he can't hear you" Samantha said, making all of us laugh. Daniel and I half carried, half dragged the girls towards a cab, asking the driver if he could take us home. We got in and Daniel told him the address, making sure Julie didn't puke in the cab.
We arrived at the apartment and took the girls to their home. "Take a painkiller and drink water, it should reduce the headache and maybe avoid the hangover tomorrow" I told them before closing the door and took Daniel to his apartment. "Thanks for tonight Daniel, it was great to hang out with you guys" I told him, giving him a hug. "You're most welcome Steffie" he answered, pecking my cheek, "You really look great in that black jacket" he added, winking at me. "Thanks, I'll remember that" I replied smiling, while letting go of him and went downstairs to my own rooms.
Changing in my pyjama's I turned on the TV for a bit and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. I plopped down in my bed and set up an alarm for 10am.
I woke up to the blaring sound of my ringtone, warning me I had an incoming call.
S- Hello, this is Stephanie speaking.
M- Ah Stephanie, I hope I didn't wake you? I know it's pretty early.
S- Eh, you did, but it's alright, I would have woken up in about an hour, but who are you if you don't mind me asking?
M- Oh it's Michael Maloy, head of the Upper School of Chapin School, I was wondering if you could come back for an interview?
S- Of course! When would it suit for you sir?
M- If you're free today, we could meet around 1pm, Headmistress Hayot will be free and so will Ms Rafferty.
S- Thank you, I'll be there, at 1. Thank you again for calling me.
M- You're welcome, we'll be expecting you. Have a good morning.
S- You too sir, goodbye.
M- Goodbye.Did I just get a call for my possible first job? Okay, I need to get up and choose my outfit carefully. Chapin School is a private school only for girls, so I need to look professional. Maybe I could ask Julie and Samantha what I should wear. I decide to text them, asking if they want to come down to my apartment. A few minutes later they're down together with Daniel. "Em, hi Daniel, I didn't know you would come as well?" I giggled, looking at Julie and Samantha. "I decided he could join us" Julie explained, "After all we know he likes you" Julie blurted out, covering her mouth quickly. I blushed, looking down for a minute before I regained my confidence and led them to my bedroom. "So what was it you need help with?" Samantha asked, being the first to follow me. "I have a job interview at 1 and I need to look professional, but I'm not sure of what to wear! Please help me?" I begged them. "Alrighty then, looks like a job for me" Samantha said, while Julie and Daniel went to sit on the bed. "We'll be the judges" Julie said, referring to herself and Daniel.
"Thank you so much guys, you're life savers!" I told them honestly before Samantha went through my closet and started making some different outfits. "Okay try this on" she said, giving me some clothes. As I returned to the bedroom, Daniel and Julie were telling me it was good, but something missed. "Don't you have a black dress?" Julie asked me. I nodded and showed Samantha the dress, "Can you combine this with something?" I asked her. "Yes! You can put it on with a white blazer and black high heels" she replied, picking out those items, giving them to me.(AN: outfit in media box) I changed again and came back for comments. "I told you she looks great in black" Daniel said, looking at me when I came into the bedroom. "Yeah yeah, get your head out of the gutter, and stop hitting on her Daniel" Samantha told him, making me laugh. "Sorry to bring you the news Daniel" I said, blushing lightly, I still wasn't used to coming out to new people, ", but I don't swing for your team" I added in explanation.
