Chapter Fifteen: Being the Sacrifice

Chapter Fifteen

We all marched down the corridor and I found myself walking next to Blaze.

“You look like a racoon caught in headlights,” he commented as we walked. 

“Is this a normal thing?” I asked not sure if it was another joke.

“Okay simply, Sasha and Nate have been enemies since they first set eyes on each other. I don’t know when it started but even when she was in the shape shifter group they could never get along. Now it’s the ultimate game. They use any excuse to fight,” Blaze explained.

Someone pushed their way in-between us, it was Pip.

“Their last fight was a while back,” Pip said, butting into our conversation.

“Yeah, I think it was about a week ago,” Blaze nodded. “IThis time I’m betting on Nate.” 

“You can’t do that! Sasha’s our leader,” Pip scolded, attenpting to hit him.

“Yes but she doesn’t always win. I've already lost twenty dollars on her," he pointed out.

“I guess. He's beating her by one,” Pip confessed. “Still, we should support her.”

“Do people get hurt?” I asked quickly.

“I think there have been a few broken bones, concussions and some bleeding,” Pip said dismissively. I spluttered in disbelief. I had to face things like that every day at home and they do it for recreation?!

“Don’t worry in less than an hour after the fight their up and ready for another round, thanks to Emma,” She added, placing a hand on my shoulder.

“So, who're you going for?” Blaze asked leaning across Pip. I looked between them before answering.

“I just hope nobody gets hurt.”

Blaze and Pip sighed, rolling their eyes.

“God you’re so innocent,” Blaze playfully punched my shoulder. I winched slightly remembering my father’s beatings.

I heard a shout from behind us and I turned to see a group of students making their way through everyone and not very politely. They pushed and shoved kids out of their way and I recognised them as the group of students that Sasha and I had accidently stumbled on. They looked as rough as ever.

“It’s the mentals, get out of the way,” Blaze said, roughly pushing me to the side. I moved to the wall with all the other kids that were trying to get out of the way.

Pip stepped in front of Blaze and I, shielding us in a way.

As the hardcore group past I noticed the boy at the front look over at Pip. He nodded at her and I saw Pip nod back. The group of mentals kept moving through the crowd. Slowly the normal flow of students started again, I stayed close the Pip and Blaze.
