After school, I went out to my car, thankful that it was Friday. Parking was terrible this morning so I had to park all the way in the fog corner. The fog corner is in the corner of the parking lot furthest from the school. It's where all the stoners go to hang out and smoke, hence the fog.
"Evie!" I hear my name being called. It was probably one of the stoners. I ignore them.
"Evie!" I hear again. Wait a second, only my friends call me Evie. Who could it be? I turn around.
"What do you want?" I demand seeing that the only seemingly sober person in the group smiles upon recognition.
"I knew you couldn't ignore me. " he says charmingly. I roll my eyes. I've had enough of this for one week.
"Why are you even talking to me?" I demand. This person looks vaguely like an old friend, but, at the same time looks so different. It can't be who I think it is. Or could it?
"You don't remember me?" He seems shocked. "How could you forget about me?" I know who this is, the name keeps flickering in the back of my mind. It is Ben! Ben Michaels! I recognize his face now. Those cheekbones could slice through anything, and his eyes were a bright blue/ grey and piercing through his shaggy dark hair.
"You do remember me." He says with a smile as he sees my face light up in recognition. He gets into the passenger's seat of my car.
"What're you doing?" I ask. This was strange behavior, even for Ben.
"Where are we going?" He counters. Does he not get how weird it is to just get into someone's car? I'm starting to question his sobriety.
"Home" I say dryly, not wanting to really deal with much more human interaction, "I have a ton of homework that I'd rather not put off til Sunday"
"I'm going to help" Ben replies while buckling his seat belt. I'm not even going to argue. Ben used to be one of my best friends freshman year, it might be nice having him around again. My dad's away on a business trip halfway across the world and my mom is working a double shift at the hospital that starts soon. She won't be home until tomorrow afternoon. Since both of our mothers are nurses at the same hospital, we grew up switching between eachother's houses as our moms switched shifts.
