I Gotta Get Out

Ben's POV

Nathan walked out of the main room. In my time here, I learned that there was a hallway full of offices. At any given time there would usually be at least 2 people somewhere in the building. Apparently Nathan trusts that I won't run away, or maybe he forgot to put my handcuffs back on. It was dark, though, even if I ran now, I wouldn't be able to navigate my way home, especially not in my condition.

I hear a *thump* on a window that was across from me. Looking out, I see nothing but pitch black. Glancing around the room, I catch something moving in the corner of my eye. I'm going insane. I was convinced that I saw something black run past a black background. Was someone out there? Nah. I was imagining things due to lack of food, water, sleep... Evie.

Evie's POV

"Tommi, let me see." I hissed in a whisper. I pushed him out of the way only to trip and bang my shoulder against the window. Looking into the window, I can barely make out a dark figure who's hair was just like Ben's morning hair. It was a mess, but it was definitely Ben's. He's just sitting in a chair. What is he doing? Is he alive? That last question spooked me.

"Evie, we gotta go." Tommi drags me around the corner. The plan was for Liam to get us in first, Tommi was to get them out safely, mine was to make sure they made it to the car.

Liam had run around front. I was patiently waiting with Tommi for a signal that it was our turn.

Before long, I heard a dove call. That was our signal to move. Tommi went in. I had to use all of my will-power to stop myself from going in to be with Ben. If I wanted this to work, I had to stay out here. I heard a bunch of metal clanging around. Liam for some reason is adding the to the already numerous chains preventing the doors in the hallway from opening. Soon enough, I am greeted by a scared-looking girl, maybe the same age as I. I pull her out of the way and tell her to make it to the line of trees just along the highway, near where we had parked our getaway truck. It wasn't that far away, maybe less than half a mile. It was tucked away so it was out of view of the warehouse until you got closer. She nods and runs off.

Another girl appears. Oh goodness! She looks like she's 12. I tell her the same thing I told the other girl and she's off. Three more girls come out they looked about 13, 19, and 15. I tell them all the same thing, and they all run off. Once they get either Ben or Cassandra out, I'm going back up to the truck.

"What's going on? Why won't my door open?" I hear some loud, booming voice from the hallway. Oh dear. They're going to catch on. We need to hurry. Next out is Ben, I run to him and embrace him in a warm hug.

"Ev, we need to go! Now!" he whisper-yells.

"I know. Go down that hill, near the line of trees on the side of the highway, and make sure all of the other girls have gotten their safely." I whisper, tears running down my face. I don't want to let him go. He gives me a kiss on the top of my head and runs off. I would've gone with him, but I'm really worried about Cassandra. She and Tommi should've been out by now.

Grabbing the knife out of my pocket, I open it. Holding it out in front of me, I slowly inch my way through the hallway. I look to my left and Liam is their with his gun pointed at one of the doors. He sees me and puts his finger up to his lips as if to say 'shh'. I nod and quietly tip-toe my way into the main room.

"Ooh, look. Evelyn seems to want to join in on our little fun-time." The tone is dark and cold in every meaning of the words. It sends shivers down my spine and I nearly drop my knife, my only real form of protection.

A/N: Who do you think it was in the room? Do you think Tommi and Cassandra are both in there? Who else? Will Ben be able to help Evie escape this time? Is Liam the only one with a gun?
