Evie's POV
"Ugh would you two just get a room" I groan, only half-faking my annoyance with their display of affection. They're just cuddling, but seeing them so close together makes my heart ache.
"Umm, Evie." Liam starts. "You're at my house..." His snarky remark earns a giggle from Tommi.
"Right, so why are we just sitting around?" I ask. Prompting Tommi to spring up out of his seat and over to the middle of the room. Where he found a paper pad that big, I have no clue.
"I think that Ben and Cassie are in an abandoned warehouse just outside city limits." He says as he draws a big rectangle on the paper with a purple marker.
"Great. Let's go." I say, grabbing my stuff and getting up.
"Evie, these are professionals. Don't you think we should go in with a plan?" Tommi says. Liam nods. Ugh. I just want to get Ben back.
--
We drive up past an abandoned warehouse. We're apparently not doing anything tonight to try to get Ben back, which is totally bogus. What about Cassie? Tommi did say this was a trafficking ring. Is she even still there to save? I shake my head trying to get those thoughts out of my head.
"That's odd" Tommi says thoughtfully.
"What?" I ask fear evident in my voice. I hear a loud BANG come from inside the warehouse.
"We gotta go." He says, panicking. As we speed away, I realize that the bang was from a gun. My stomach drops. That must mean that I either lost Cassie or Ben. Either thought made me sick to my stomach with a twinge of pain pulsing from my heart.
Ben's POV
At first, I hear chit-chatting, followed by, yelling from angry voices I've never heard before. Just then, I see Jarrod walk in and stand in between me and Cassie. Paul walks in too, but he puts all the attention on Cassie. That perv.
"You ain't gonna try something funny, like escaping, are ya?" I rough, unfamiliar voice asks behind me. His tone was scary enough to send shivers down my spine. "Are ya?" He pushes, clearly wanting an answer.
"No, sir" I reply. Why did I call him 'sir'? I guess his tone just demanded some form of respect.
"Well, perhaps your friends have other ideas." He chuckles. I hear the click of the safety being taken off of a gun.
"Oh, no" I whisper, coming to the realization that the commotion outside may have been caused by Evie.
"So it's true?" He asks. I feel something cold and hard against the base of my head.
"I don't know anything about it. I don't plan on sneaking out." I say a little panicked. The cold feeling is gone and I hear a loud BANG behind me. I wait. I wait for the pain. I wait for the blood. I wait for death to find me. It's only after I hear Paul yell at Cassie to stop screaming do I realize that I wasn't shot.
"Good answers." The man says and I hear his footsteps walk away. Soon after, Jarrod somehow convinces Paul to take his paws off Cassandra, and they leave too. Leaving us alone, in the pitch black dark. Once alone, I hear it. The sound of sadness. Cassandra is crying. I don't blame her. It's not long until I join her, letting the tears rolls down my face. I'm worried I've been defeated.
A/N: Aww, poor Evie, thinking someone died, when they didn't.
