Ben's POV

After getting called to the office, I wait for Evie in the hall for a little while. I don't know why I was waiting. Maybe because I had been waiting here for her when she was in my situation. It's January 8th. Thanks to Evie, I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen. She didn't, though. I couldn't just disappear, but if I wanted to protect her and the rest of the school, I had to get on the inside. I try calling Evie, but I was sent to her voicemail after like 2 rings. I left her a message, slightly irritated that she didn't pick up. Ugh. Ben, of course she wouldn't pick up. She was in class. I put my phone away, taking a deep breath, I walk directly to the principal's office.

"Hello Ben." Some strange guy said. He was taller than me, which is impressive. He had golden brown hair that swept across his forehead. I knew I didn't know him, but his face looks so familiar.

"Ben, these people are going to need you to cooperate." Mr. Martin said simply. Yeah right. I look over to the other person. He looks very... sturdy. He's not fat, but it's not body-builder toned muscles either. He too, is taller than me. They both step a little closer to me.

"No way! WHAT THE HELL?!" I yell. Suddenly my mouth is covered by a large hand, and an arm is wrapped around my shoulders. I was dragged out of the nearest exit. No one else was around. I tried making noise and kicking about. I just couldn't get away. OMG Evie... She's gonna be so worried. I can't just leave her without a trace.

After a short ride in a hella sketchy van, I'm taken into a giant warehouse. It was large and rustic. It must've been abandoned. My wrist is handcuffed to a pillar that was holding the ceiling up, and the two guys left. Really they're just going to leave me here? I take the opportunity to text Tommi to tell him that he's going to need to explain everything to Evie. After that, I call Evie... 3 times. I couldn't stand the idea of spending more than one night without seeing her. She was just ahhh, I can't even explain it.

I hear something moving around outside the doors to the warehouse. I quickly put my phone back, not wanting my only hope of escape to get confiscated. It's in the biggest pocket of my cargo pants. Man, those pockets could hold just about anything. The two guys are back, but now they are accompanied with 3 or 4 others.

"So, I hear that you've been a trouble maker." The familiar looking guy says. I just look up at him. I try to ignore my fear and focus on what he was thinking. This 'gift' I have has mostly been used for fun in the past, but since I've developed it to be so good, I thought it would be able to help me out a bit. Nathan Beck... Is all that passed through my head. Thanks brain. I finally recognized the face, but I couldn't tell what it was thinking. -- Wait Beck. As in Erik Beck. I know why I'm on the list, that perv.

"Are reffering to your baby brother's little crush?" I asked with probably a bit too much cockiness in my voice.

"Ahh, so you do know." Nathan says calmly.

"I know Erik can keep his hands off my girl." I smirk. Then quickly regret my smugness as I see a glint of anger cross Nathan's eyes. The next thing I know, a fist slams into my cheek. I flinch, waiting for more hits, but they don't come.

"He's all yours." Nathan says walking away. The other guys look at me. One pushes my shoulders down, making me kneel. Another, grabs my neck, making me lose my breath. Yet another, kicks me in the side as another kicks me right in the groin. The hand releases from my neck and I fall to lay on the ground, curling up in extreme pain. They all laugh as they walk out. I hear the door open and close, followed by the sound of cars driving away.

Once the pain subsides enough that I feel I could talk in a normal voice, I call Evie again. This time, I tell her what's up. If I was honest, though, I regret telling her that I couldn't tell what these strange people were thinking. She knows about my uncanny ability to read people. I probably just made her 10 times more worried than she otherwise would've been.

I had to help take this down, somehow, for her. So we could be together, without having to worry about Erik or anyone else like him. My wrist aches from the handcuff, the rest of my body aches from the beating. The only peace I found in the cold, drafty warehouse was in the thought of Evie and I together, in safety.
