Alex's POV
Liam and I have been hanging out a lot more. We've started going back to school and we've quickly regained our status as the power gay couple. Liam is quick to jump back into his role as gossip queen and seems like his old self again. Well, at least at school. After school, while doing homework together, he'd retell all the fun stories he's heard throughout the day.
"So, in today's news, Tiffany broke up with Ian to go gay for Kelsey." He says in a funny 'reporter' voice.
"I mean, she's already been around all the guys..." I point out, making him laugh. "Anything else?" I ask. His face immediately dropped.
"I heard a few things, but they're not important." He seems bothered by it and I needed to know.
"It is to you."
"Just stuff about you, me, Tommi..." after saying Tommi's name, he fell silent. I decided to leave it alone, but he started talking after a little while, "a lot of people have been saying things like I killed him to get him away from you and -" his voice broke and I noticed tears roll down his face. I hug him tighter and kiss the tears off his cheeks.
"Shh, it'll all be okay. We know the truth and that's all that should matter to you." I comfort him. He nods and snuggles into my chest. I'm so glad to have him back.
Evie's POV
We've been chilling with Ben's mom for like the past week. I don't know why, but Melanie thinks that it would be bad for our mental health to go back. I'm pretty sure she and my mom are looking to move to the next town over to get alway from anyone else involved. Speaking of which, we've had to go to the police to help out the girls we rescued and start the challenging process of bringing Nathan and his gang down. It's challenging because in the course of a week there are at least 10 'upstanding members of society' who are suspected of being involved in various deals with Nathan or his associates, including Gil Martin. Apparently, even though the police have suspects, they can't interrogate them because that would end so badly, no memory of their gang would be left besides those of terror. This thought loomed over me, Ben and our moms every minute of everyday, Because we did get to the police, our houses are now being surveyed by a specially trained squad to 'keep us safe.'
"Hey, Ev-" Ben says, pulling me our of my thoughts. He's sitting at the kitchen table, across from me, eating Cheetos. How long has he been sitting there? He's got this smug look on his face, but his blue eyes shone with a playful smile.
"Are you not going to share?" I demand, mirroring his expression. He laughs and holds out a Cheeto to my face. I open my mouth and he feeds it to me. After chewing, I lock eyes with him and 'sneakily' grab the bag out of his hands.
"I should've seen that coming," he admits while laughing, not breaking eye contact.
"Maybe if you weren't so distracted..." I tease. Just then, Melanie walks in on us.
"Aww, you two are unhealthily cute," she smiles, referring to the Cheetos, "anyway, I've got some big news for you!" She pauses, for effect... Melanie can be so dramatic sometimes.
"Ugh, mom... continue." Ben groans, clearly fed up with his mother's theatrics.
"The police were able to arrest Paul under completely unrelated charges!" She practically screams.
"Is that a good thing?" I ask, remembering what the police had said at the station about how complicated this would turn out to be. Ben seems to be following my thoughts.
"I thought we wanted to bring them all down at once." He says, confused.
"Well, the detective called me and said that it was good news..." Melanie reports, now clearly rethinking the mood of the occasion.
"Then that's all I need to hear for now!" Ben announces, pulling me out of my seat and giving both me and his mom a big hug.
We stand like that for a while, content with that small, partial ending to the shitstorm clouding our past, present, and future that's sure to come. 💘
A/N: Hey guys! So, this is the end of this story... I know- it's seems incomplete. I feel like I created a lot of loose ends that I can't tie off within the amount of chapters I allotted myself. I will be writing a sequel to this story (idk what it'll be called yet) after I go through and edit this story to a more 'final draft' (if you will)
If you know someone who'd really good at reviewing or editting who may be willing to help, let me know, please!
Thank you and I hope you thuroughly enjoyed 'My Drug'.
