^From "My Happy Ending"~ Avril Lavigne (regarding Tommi's relationship with Alex-not Ben and Evie-- you can stop freaking out now)

Evelyn's POV

"Evie?" I hear Tommi call from outside the bathroom. I ignore him and continue to scrub at my hands. I couldn't stop remembering Ben's blood spilling over them. Sure it was just a dream, but it was my fault. It was my fault he was gone now. I didn't have to drag him into this. I didn't have to get addicted to him. "Evie, stop washing your hands. Your skin will crack." Like that was my biggest problem right now.

"Ooh, I'm so scared." I reply sarcastically. Tommi barges in and turns off the faucet. I should've locked the door.

"Evie, I don't know why you're doing what you're doing, but you need to stop. If you break, we won't be able to get Ben back." He explains. He doesn't know about my dream. He doesn't know that everything that has happened to Ben is my fault. I hear his phone buzz in his pocket. He's gotten
3 texts. 2 from Alex and 1 from Liam. Oh goodness.

Liam: Alex is asking about you... I told him you were sick

Alex: I heard you were sick... Did Evie give something to you?

Alex: You do realize you left Liam alone with me, right? You can't protect everyone Lover-boy 😉

I look at Tommi's face as he reads these messages. It's etched with concern. He looks torn, like he's making decisions.

"You can go be with Liam. I understand." I tell him.

"No, you're their main target. Liam should be fine." He replies, still concerned.

"You don't have to lose him like I lost Ben." I reply.

"You weren't supposed to have Ben to lose." His response confuses me.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I demand.

"He was supposed to protect you, not fall in love with you." He replies.

"I'm confused." I admit.

"This has been brewing for a while Evie. That's why I was flirting with Alex." He sighs.

"For information?" I ask, skeptical.

"For information." He nods. "Once Erik started picking on you, I knew the plans had begun to unravel. Erik wants complete control over the entire school. You're a push-back, meaning you're a target. I sent Ben to keep an eye on you and make sure you weren't taken by them. So far, most people have been quick to 'save themselves' and surrender."

"Why do you say 'save themselves' like that?" I ask.

"Once everyone surrenders to their control, Erik and Mr. Martin will have their pick of students for profit. Since there's still resistance in the student body, they have to muffle it before they can begin doing their big business." I didn't realize that Tommi had been the head-honcho in charge of rebelling against whatever this mess was. Seeing him in this light only reinforced the idea that Tommi was so self-giving for the main cause of keeping the entire school, essentially, safe. Wow. That's a big load to take on. I don't know how he plans on doing it all.

Ben's POV

"Evie's still a no-show." I hear Nathan announce behind me. Oh god Evie. She doesn't know how much people are relying on her to pull herself together for just one day. She doesn't know how much I need her to get over me and just go to school. She doesn't know what's at stake here. I don't even know what all is at stake. All I know is that she needs to be strong. For me. I hang my head, tears streaming down my face. I can't stay strong for much longer. I need her.

A/N: So we've learned more about Tommi. Ben seems pretty broken. Yep. This is my update. Don't worry this is going somewhere I promise. This part was to help y'all develop a sense of Tommi's drug.
