The light receded, and there was Sesshōmaru, lying there bound as she had been. She could see him tugging futilely at the bonds trying to snap them with his strength. She ignored him for the moment, glancing around for Jaken. He had stayed near, and was sleeping curled next to his staff.
Hāmonī turned to Sesshōmaru. "They won't break unless someone cuts them for you" she said coldly, venom seeping into her voice. Sesshōmaru stopped pulling at the ropes and slowly smirked up at her. "Ah," he purred right back, as if they had just met at a market "Why if it isn't little Hāmonī . What a pleasant surprise."
Hāmonī had bristled at the word little, but had carefully got her temper under control. "Why, brother!" She exclaimed mockingly "I'm surprised a little demon got the best of you." She grinned "You poor, helpless thing." She bopped him on the nose.
Sesshōmaru growled, but kept his superior tone. "Oh Hāmonī," he tutted "Still haven't got the guts to kill me, have you?"
Hāmonī prepared to snap back a sharp retort, but was interrupted by a hand tugging at her sleeve. She looked down at Yuri, who rose on her tiptoes and whispered "There's.... a purple, glowing thing inside his arm. I looks... like glass, sort of." Hāmonī looked at Sesshōmaru. She couldn't see what Yuri had described, a sacred jewel shard, in Sesshōmaru's arm, but the color draining from his face told her that Yuri was spot on.
"Sesshy," she said teasingly "Why didn't you tell me you had something in your arm? Don't worry, I'll get it out for you." She turn to Minto "Hold his arms." she paused looking at Sesshōmaru's arms. "Wait... that's not a demon arm. That's a.." she trailed off, staring a Sesshōmaru in confusion "A human arm?"
"It'll burn off eventually," he muttered "This bond and the sacred jewel are the only things keeping it on. If only I had put the sacred jewel in the other one, maybe I wouldn't have been caught by her." He glared at Yuri. Hāmonī grinned impishly. "I doubt it. Humans have more use than you'd think, Sesshōmaru." she shook her head. "If anything, be grateful. It's this human who convinced me to save you. I'm just taking my price."
She turned to Yuri once Minto had Sesshōmaru's arms secured. "Pinpoint me to the shard, would you?" With Yuri guiding her hand, all it took was a quick slash for Hāmonī to dislodge the fragment. "Thank you." She chirped to the scowling demon. "I've no use for it, but Inuyasha might. I'll let Jaken take care of your bonds."
She, Yuri, and Minto started to walk away, and Hāmonī called over her shoulder "Remember this when you consider the worth of humans!" With that they disappeared over the horizon.
