They set up camp for the night, now with a new, extremely talkative, member. And Hāmonī had thought that Yuri was loud...
"...And so I said 'Why do I have to do all the cleaning? Why can't you take a turn?' And then Toge has the nerve to say because I'm the girl! Because I am the girl!!! Now, I would have attacked him right then and there if Kīchigo hadn't volunteered to help...."
Well, at least Kiyōna's endless nattering had some purpose. Yuri was enraptured, occasionally nodding or saying "Absolutely!" "That's right!" or "The nerve!". Other than that she was completely silent. Why, Yuri hadn't bothered her all day!
"... And then they just went right to bed! Leaving me to do all the dishes! Ha, whose gonna do the dishes now, you slimy, overipe, peices of..."
Hāmonī sighed and went back to tuning them out. Minto was so lucky he was on hunting duty right now. Hopefully the food would be enough to shut up Kiyōna. Hāmonī shook her head. Kiyōna was an amazing fighter. No doubt about that. She could be silent and stealthy when she wanted to.
She was just so loud.
Hāmonī guessed after spending a many years cooped up with 4 incompetent, lazy brothers, she probably would do more then just vent to anyone who would listen. She would've started cracking open skulls.
"What was that!?"Kiyōna cried, and the alarm in Kiyōna's voice had Hāmonī up, knives drawn, in a fraction of a moment. Kiyōna, too, was up, a vine winding near her feet like a restless snake.
And then Minto trotted out of the woods.
Hāmonī sighed in relief, and looked at what Minto had brought. Some fish and...
Was that a demon?
It was certainly no animal Hāmonī had ever seen. It was round and purple, with thick back blood oozing from its body. Its face looked like it had been squashed flat, with sickly yellow eyes, and it had two, deadly sharp, curling fangs emerging from its maw.
Minto spat the demon onto the ground, and then carefully lowered the pouch with the fish poking out from his back. The same nasty black blood covered his front.
Minto looked at Hāmonī. "Would you mind washing me off?" he said wearily. "This stuff tastes horrid, let me tell you."
Hāmonī grinned. Minto would never, ever ask to get wet unless it was really horrible. "With pleasure," she purred and cried "Water Slash!" After the mist had faded, there stood a soaking wet, shivering Minto, looking very unhappy and cold, watered down black blood pooling at his feet.
"W-why is your water always so c-cold?" he complained, teeth chattering. Hāmonī gave him a smirk as Yuri rushed over with a dry blanket. "Are you okay?" She said worriedly, wrapping him up tight in the woolen blanket. Minto sighed as the blanket folded around his wet fur. "I'm fine," he said reassuringly.
Kiyōna spoke up for the first time since she had heard Minto returning from the woods "What is that?" she exclaimed disgustedly, gesturing to the body of the demon (who was finally done oozing blood) lying on the ground.
Minto shrugged, sinking back to regular cat form. "I don't know. It just attacked me. In case we run into another one, just know their fangs are poisonous."
Yuri and Kiyōna both shuddered. Even Hāmonī twitched. She hated poison. A lot.
"Anyway," Minto said cheerily, succeeding in diffusing the mood. "Let's get these fish cooking!"

Hāmonī was lightly dozing. She had just finished the first watch, and Kiyōna had volunteered for the second. But for some reason she just couldn't go to sleep...
And that was why, not two minutes later, Hāmonī was the 1st up at Kiyōna's call. She immediately saw why.
They were surrounded by the purple monsters. And they were out for revenge.
