Luna was holding my hand. Luna was holding my hand. LUNA WAS HOLDING MY HAND! The same thought raced through my mind over and over. Sadly the happy feeling in the pit of my stomach only lasted for about a minute before I was forced to release her hand when the large crowd that was my friends appeared before us. Later I would have to explain to her why we couldn't be seen holding hands, why we couldn't show any feelings we might have for each other. I missed the warmth of her hand already and was dreading the possibility of never feeling it again.

We walked up to the group and everyone rushed towards Luna. Oh no, I thought and I shielded her from the onslaught of teenage guys rushing towards her. I was about to speak when Kara stepped forward and everyone shut-up. She had that effect on the group.

"Okay," she said. "I know that all of you can be at least a little civilized. Luna probably has no idea what is going to happen this weekend because I'm sure none of you has had the courtesy to explain to her. I want the leader of each group to ride in a car with Luna and I. Does that work for you people?"

Everyone nodded in agreement. I wanted to speak up and say that I wanted to ride with her too, but I glanced at Speedy who shook his head ever so slightly at me in warning.

Kara walked up to Luna and took her hand gently. "We're meeting at Rob's place in two hours. You all know what you need to get." I watched as she led Luna away, talking to her, probably explaining the ceremony to her. Lachlan, Joel and Kenny followed her, being the respective leaders of their groups.

"Side," Speedy came up beside me.

I answered without taking my eyes off of Luna's retreating form, "What?"

"You know. Side, you know if she's in a different group you can't date her. It's not allowed."

"Well why the hell not? That rule is stupid anyways."

"It's just the rule Side and you can't break the rules because they'll break you. Plus, if people in separate groups were in relationships, it would only cause problems during the season."

Although it sounded harsh, I knew he wasn't exaggerating. The three groups, The Crew, The Pack and HTM have existed for years at Amador. Not everyone was destined to be a member, but everyone knew that the groups were not to be messed with. Every year the three groups were pulled into the World of Minecraft and had to fight to live for two full weeks. People actually died for real in these two weeks. My group, The Crew, had suffered the worst last year. We had lost four members, Deluxe20, Deluxe4, G18 and Jahova had all died to the other groups. It's not as though it caused hurt feelings or anything because it's what we were supposed to do. The game was kill on sight, and if you didn't fight for your life you would loose it. The Pack had been lucky last year and all its members made it through the game. HTM had lost Nade, Ali and Braydon. This year's season was set to start on December first and would be called H3M. Although it was only going to be my second year in the game, I had been seconds from death last year and I didn't want Luna to get hurt. However, the people who were inducted into the group were not randomly chosen. According to Joel, the leader of each of the groups could see a type of mark on someone who needed to join the groups. Luna had been marked like I had been last year and there was no stopping her destiny now.
