When Side told me he could possibly be in love with Luna, I had to hold back my tears and get away from him as fast as possible.

Although deep down I knew that Side would probably never like me the same way I liked him, rather loved him, I still got little glimmers of hope whenever he asked to play minecraft with me or giggled adorably at my jokes.

Last summer, the night before the last game, I had come out to Deluxe about being gay and my feelings for Side during a late night round of UHC, in preparation for the next couple of weeks. It's sad to think that that was the last video game that I would ever play with Deluxe.

I looked over at Side again and saw him offer a slice of pizza to Luna. She took it without saying anything. Her eyes were blank with maybe a hint of fear. They must have already told her what she was going to have to do. She flipped her phone in her palm as Side attempted to engage her in some conversation.

"Okay everyone," Kenny spoke up over everyone. "Let's get this metaphorical party started. Everyone get with your groups and we'll properly introduce everyone to Luna. If any of you didn't know, Luna is soon going to be our newest group member." Everyone shuffled around to get seats throughout the way too small living room. I wound up sitting at the tiny table situated in the far back corner of the living room, in between Side and Shadow.

Kenny started to speak again. He introduced everyone to Luna, who started to look even more scared with each passing second. I remembered watching Side go through this last year. He was so young, only a freshman, and I was so scared for him. After he was inducted into The Crew, I helped him almost every day to prepare for the game. I guess, if Luna was inducted into our group it would be Side's job to help her.

"So Luna," said Kenny, now turning to face her. I could see her trembling now. Maybe she was actually in worse shape about this than Albi had been. "You pretty much know what you need to do. Survive the day and night. Twenty minutes, that's it. I'm assuming you have played minecraft before. Good. So basically we chose the group you're going to join by how you survive. Seems simple enough right?"

Luna nodded slightly, "I th-think I'm re-ready."

"Awesome! All you have to do is touch that computer screen over there and think about going into the game and then you'll be in. Good luck."

Everyone else chorused in with upbeat "good lucks" as she walked slowly towards the computer and pressed her hand gently against the pixelated screen. She disappeared without a sound and everyone turned to their own computers to see Luna spawn in the middle of an open field. There were an abundance of cows, sheep and pigs wandering around the plains. She looked to her left and right. Everyone spotted the creeper at once and you could hear the dead silence. If she attacked the creeper, it would mean she would join The Pack, because they favored PVP.

There was a moment of hesitation before she ran towards the cows, away from the creeper. There came exasperated sighs from the other side of the room where Preston, Rob, Vikk, Lachlan, Jerome and Mitch were sitting.

It was now a 50% chance that Luna would be joining our group. I really wanted her to because I wanted Side to be happy. I looked over at Side as Luna collected drops from numerous cows and pigs. He was pale and looked like he was going to be sick. I slung my arm over his shoulder again.

"She'll be fine, Sidey, don't worry. I was the same for you when it was your induction." I said to Side.

He looked at me, "I'm not worried for her now. I'm worried for her later, when she can actually die."

"But we'll be there to protect her. We won't let her die."

"But that's why I'm worried now too. What if we can't protect her because she's not in our group?"

I didn't really know how to respond to that. I couldn't promise him that she would be in our group because it was out of my hands. "Well, all we can do is hope."
