I sat by Deluxe20's bed. Joel was fixing up the cut in his stomach with some bandages. The room was silent as Joel worked. We were both still in shock that our friend was still alive.

"Please fill me in on what I missed. What's been goin' on with everybody?" D20 asked and looked at me. I felt sorry for him because he had missed a year of his life. I tried my best to tell him everything that had happened while he was gone? Missing? Dead? Joel helped fill in the important things I missed.

"So now we're here. We've been in the new groups for two days now. Our group is peaceful if you didn't already conclude from your tattoo. It's Lachlan, obviously, Choco, Mitch, Jerome and then us three. We actually work pretty well together. I'd even consider saying that we are more alike than The Crew was." I winced at the statement. It felt weird to be away from the normal guys and I really missed Shadow. However, I couldn't remember why I missed him more than Side. Every night since we'd been split, I'd wracked my brain for the memories I knew were tucked just out of reach.

Silence manifested itself in the room and I watched the other guys working outside. Our little village was coming along nicely. We had plenty of cows and chickens. Each person had built their own house and mine stood at a slight elevation to the others'. It's Aztec styled roof seemed to pierce the clouds when looked at from our current position. As I stared at the orange clay and pondered whether it really fit in with the other builds, the glass of the window inches from my face shattered as something flew through it.

I raised my hands to my face and my fingers slid over a piece of glass protruding from my cheek. Instinctively I pulled it free of my skin and threw it to the ground.

"Speedy!" D20 yelled from where he lay. I moved to the window and looked to where D20 was pointing. A group of people had entered our camp. Lachlan, Mitch and Jerome had run to meet them, but they weren't prepared for battle. Two people had separated from the two that fought them and were coming towards the house we were in. I backed away from the window and looked at my friends.

"Can you walk?" I asked D20.

"Yes, but I don't think I'll be able to fight." he answered as he tried to get to his feet.

"I don't think you'll have to because there are only four of them. Just find somewhere to hide until it's over."

Joel and I ran out of the house to meet the two people, but only one remained. Kenny charged towards us, clad in diamond enchanted armor. Although Joel and I only had iron armor and swords, we gave all we could to the fight. It was two against one and I hoped that would be enough.

Kenny was quick and he anticipated our attacks before they came. I stumbled backwards as Kenny's sword swiped across my chest. He followed his attack, but Joel blocked it before it reached my neck. I watched Kenny and Joel fight and looked for an opening. Finally I saw it and as Kenny turned to avoid Joel's attack, I plunged my sword into his chest.

He instantly fell to the ground and I released my grip on the hilt of my sword. I gazed down at Kenny's motionless body in shock. Leaning down to free my weapon from his chest, I looked into his empty eyes and a wave of sadness came over me. I touched his eyelids gently to close them and closed my own eyes as well.

"I'm sorry," I whispered so not even Joel could hear me. I hadn't ever killed someone before and I felt like it was only natural to feel sorry about it. He was my friend after all. For some reason I didn't feel remorse for doing it and I figured that had to do with how the game changed our emotions so that we killed each other in the first place.

"Speedy, we have to check on the others," Joel said.

We ran towards the entrance of our village. The fight was still raging. I watched as a figure fell to the ground and another person kneel down next to him. He raised his arm above his face to protect himself from the oncoming attack from an enemy. I recognized the kneeling figure as Lachlan. His attacker hesitated and then brought down his sword. Lachlan fell next to the person he had died to help. The last of our team still fighting, either Mitch or Jerome, fought viciously. The person who killed Lachlan looked up and saw us approaching, which allowed me to see who he was.

Vikk turned and fled, his teammate following behind. Mitch fell to his knees and cradled Jerome's head in his lap. Lachlan wasn't moving, but Jerome's chest was moving up and down slowly. I watched helplessly as Mitch whispered to his best friend. It was only a few seconds before Jerome stopped moving and Mitch began to silently cry.

Choco emerged from his mining trip and froze when he saw the carnage laid out before him.

"Lachy...Jerome..." he managed to choke out. We sat in silence.

"I should go check on D20. Tell him what happened," I said quietly and walked to the little hospital.

However, I opened the door to a sight I was not expecting.
