I woke up to find myself wrapped in Albi's tight embrace. I turned my head to look into his already opened eyes.
"Morning," he said before kissing the tip of my nose.
I smiled at him, "Good morning."
There was a knock at the door and Albi's mom said, "Breakfast is ready. Is Luna still here?"
"Yeah. We'll be down in a few minutes." Replied Albi.
It still sometimes was startling how our parents just went along with everything we did. I was slowly getting used to it though.
Albi and I soon joined his parents for a breakfast of pancakes and bacon. After we finished our food, we decided to play money wars, which Albi and I narrowly won. I was seriously starting to get worried about Albi's performance in minecraft. We were only five days away from the beginning of H3M now and he hadn't improved in the last week. It only made it worse that after tonight I would only be able to train with my group. It was another stupid rule that I wanted to break, but Albi had insisted on following. He had said that it was already bad enough that we were breaking the dating rule.
"You should play another UHC," I said to him.
"Do you really think I need to?" He asked.
"Yes!" I yelled incredulously. "Albi, you are not good enough yet. The Pack is crazy good at minecraft and you need to survive against them. I don't know what I'd do if you died."
"You'd be pretty lonely, considering we spend all our free time together," he joked. I let the tense moment dissipate as I opened up Albi's minecraft account.
"I should probably go to get ready for later," I said as I gathered my backpack and stowed my math book back inside it.
"Okay. Is your mom on her way or something?"
"I think I'm just going to walk. It's only like ten minutes anyways and I need to get the exercise when I can get it." I pulled my bag onto my back.----
I got a ride to Simply Fondue, the restaurant that we were having dinner at, with Brandon and Kara. I was wearing a navy dress with a flowery pattern and a lacy collar and Kara had french braided my blonde hair. However I couldn't hold a candle to how cute Kara and Brandon looked together. Kara was wearing a mint green dress with white lace on her torso in intricate designs and she had loosely curled her light brown hair so that it framed her face perfectly, and Brandon looked dashing in a suit.
We were the last to get there and everyone had already taken their seats at a private table behind long velvety red curtains. I took a seat next to Albi, and Kara and Brandon filled in the two seats on my other side. As the waiter took our drink orders and began to get the fondue heating up, Albi leaned over to whisper in my ear, "You look beautiful."
"And you look very dashing in your suit," I joked. I reached my hand to find Albi's and we locked fingers under the table.
Everyone seemed to be happy as they exchanged light conversation, but there was a feeling of foreboding that hung heavy on the air. After tonight some of us would never speak to each other again and that fear pervaded everyone's thoughts.
Despite the tension, the night went by smoothly. Sooner than I would have hoped, the bill had been paid and everyone was standing to leave. Everyone exchanged hugs and then proceeded to go to their cars.
Before I realized he was missing, Albi had left my side and was following Lucas and Shadow through the doors.
That night I awoke abruptly with the realization that that night might be the last time I ever touch or speak to Albi.----
The next few days passed in a blur. I barely made it through the day due to the lack of sleep I was getting between training and worrying. Before I knew it, I was staring at my ceiling as I lay in bed on Wednesday night. I glanced at my alarm clock. 11:37. I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep so I went downstairs and found my mom.
"What are you doing up honey?" she asked.
"I couldn't sleep and I just- I just wanted to tell you that I l-love you okay?" I began to choke on my words as I spoke to my mom for what could possibly be the last time.
"I love you too, Luna." We embraced in a tight hug. "You should really go to sleep. You have school tomorrow."
I wanted to tell her everything, but I knew that it would just go in one ear and out the other like everything else that had to do with this whole mess. I squeezed her one last time before returning to my room.
As soon as my head hit the pillow I glanced at my clock again. 11:54.
I thought about how it would feel to be in minecraft again. It felt strangely calming last time, like I belonged there. I hoped it would feel the same way this time. Kara told me that once you were in, you lost all your sense so that when you saw someone from a different group you felt an urge to kill him. I was not looking forward to that feeling.
I glanced at the clock again. 11:59. I watched the tiny seconds hand tick closer and closer to tomorrow.
12:00.
And everything went black.
