I sat quietly in the back seat as we drove to Rob's apartment. I thought of Luna until Rob swung open his door and I was given the task of "food overseer." This job basically entailed ordering pizza, harping people for money and then making sure everyone got some before I did. I ordered 10 pizzas for the seventeen of us, making sure to get a mushroom one for myself. Hopefully this time Legiqn wouldn't eat the whole thing to spite me. God, he loved his food, the fucking bastard.
People slowly arrived and began to catch up after the summer apart. A couple guys brought laptops in order to watch Luna when she went into the game. The pizza came and quickly went, but I was able to snag a couple pieces of mushroom for Luna and myself. I didn't know if she'd have the stomach to eat anything, but it was the thought that counted.
Speedy came up beside me and draped his arm over my shoulders. "Watcha thinking about Side? You've been over here in the corner all afternoon. You're not worried about Luna are you?"
"I'm just worried she's not going to be in our group. Speedy," I lowered my voice slightly so the others wouldn't hear my confession. "I think I might love her."
Instead of scoffing at me, Speedy looked at me with sadness in his eyes, "I didn't know you felt that way, Side. I hope she gets in our group so you, at least, can be happy." He began to turn and then quickly asked, "hey before I forget, can I share your laptop to watch?" I nodded quickly and he walked away.
What had he meant about me being the only one who was happy? Was Speedy himself not happy? Before I had the time to really think about the comment, a loud "BOYS!" Rang through the house as Lachlan, Joel, Kara, Kenny and Luna arrived.
