I sat at the small table in the corner of the little village building and gazed out the window. I had volunteered to take first watch. Brandon held loosely to my hand as he slept peacefully and it calmed me to feel his warm familiar skin. However, that calm didn't quite reach my gut.

I pulled the sleeve of my jacket up slightly to reveal the blue book tattooed into my pale skin. When I had awoken earlier that day, it had been hours before Luna had joined me in consciousness. I had had plenty of time to inspect my tattoo, as well as Luna's, which was the same. As far as I knew, she hadn't even discovered it herself yet.

It had only taken my a few minutes of running through scenarios before I had landed on the most logical.

We were getting new teams.

I was with Luna because our tattoos were the same, but what about Brandon and Mat? Or Kenny and Choco, wherever they are?

Making sure that Brandon was still asleep, I turned over the hand intertwined with mine. Gently I pulled back the sleeve, but quickly let it fall back when I saw the color of his design. Instead of my light blue, his was a dark red. Holding in the wave of emotions that cascaded through me, I pulled up his sleeve once more and looked at the design more closely. Two swords crossed over each other.

I released Brandon's hand and let it fall to his chest. I strode across the length of the room and knelt beside Mat. I pulled up his sleeve and found a blue mark. So he was staying with Luna and I. I slumped against the wall of the room and stared at Brandon as he slept. I didn't know what would happen when we were put on different teams. Would we no longer still love each other or would the power of our love prevent us from killing each other? I worried for the former because I couldn't lose him.

I couldn't lose the love of my life.

I let my friends sleep through the night because after what I had just discovered there was no way I would sleep tonight. I left the house and walked along the empty field, watching the sun rise ahead of me.

Suddenly I was knocked to the ground. Slightly dazed and confused I struggled to remove the mass from on top of me when it spoke, "Kara! You're alive! We were so worried."

Choco stood up grinning like he was insane. "What the heck Choco? That hurt." However, I couldn't stay mad because I was elated that our group had finally met up.

I embraced Choco in a more humanly hug and saw Kenny over his shoulder. I released Choco and greeted Kenny.

"Are the others with you?" He asked.

I nodded, "They're just at that village, still asleep."

Kenny began to head in the direction of our friends, but I stopped him.

"Wait. There's something we need to talk about." I shuffled my feet nervously, but I knew that now was the right time and these were the right people to discuss this with. "There's this mark on my wrist and the others' wrists as well. I think that the teams are being switched."

Kenny quickly pulled up his jacket sleeve to reveal a tattoo matching Brandon's. "What the hell?"

"Mine's a purple peace sign with a heart in the middle. Do you really think that we're changing teams? Would they do that? What about the others? Do they know?" Choco asked rapid fire.

"I don't know for sure. I'm just scared that I'm right because Brandon's matches yours, Kenny. What if-"

Kenny finished my sentence for me, "you're separated."

Instead of agreeing with Kenny's statement, only mumbles escaped my mouth and a feeling of dizziness washed over me. I felt myself leaning towards the ground and Kenny's arms wrapping around me. He spoke, but I couldn't make out his words. I let my eyelids close and my body fell limp.
