(Harry’s POV)
Now was the time. It’s now or never. Now would be better. If you just did it now! You don’t know if there’s going to be a tomorrow. Maybe that’s why you shouldn’t do it. Just shut up! You want to do this? Than do this! What about later? What about it? It doesn’t matter. Except that it does. Once you feel what it’s like, nothing else is going to compare. Would you go your whole life wondering what if? Live in the moment. Do this now. Now would be great.
“Whytnie?” She turned to look at me. Do it now. “What did you want to eat for dinner?” Chicken.
“Um,” she looked around and sighed. “Maybe…” She looked around at the food court again and shook her head. “I’m not even really hungry.” My eyes went wide as I got in her face, wondering what the hell was wrong. She wasn’t feeling well? “Stop, Harry, I’m fine.” She didn’t meet my eyes which meant she was lying. “I’m just not hungry is all.” Yeah, that’s the same excuse I’ve been hearing a lot lately.
“Do you want to go home? If you’re in pain, we don’t have to stay here.” She gave me a look then, which meant I needed to stop being so over-protective. Well, she couldn’t really blame me for it, could she? I mean, given the circumstances.
“Harry, we just got here.”
“But, this is what you want to do, right?” She dramatically nodded, quick up and down motions. Then she stopped, putting one hand to her head. My arms went out to steady her immediately. “Are you dizzy? Are you okay?”
“Just peachy.” She laced our fingers before leading me towards her favorite store. “Why did you want to come to the mall anyway?”
I shrugged. Tomorrow was the day she was going to be getting her results back. Her family was worried about what they’d find and could hardly hold still for any period of time. I was trying to be some-what normal, but it wasn’t working. I couldn’t hide the concern. I was scared, and she couldn’t really be mad at me for it.
There was still a chance she could die before I was ready to let her go. Or before I could finally ask her!
Maybe I should try a different approach?

(Harry’s POV)
“You know, if you wanted to watch a movie, why go on a Saturday when everybody and their grandma is out?” Whytnie was complaining about the crowds, she doesn’t like them. Not only is she claustrophobic, but she’s also not a people person. “We could’ve just stayed home, watched Avatar or The Hobbit.”
“Don’t we always do that?” We were getting back in the car, she was driving, something she argued about when I told her she couldn’t. Well, she doesn’t really like to be told what to do, and I should know by now. “I wanted to do something else this time.”
“Why?” Her eyebrows rose as she tried backing out of the parking spot, but a whole bunch of people were trying to leave. Sighing, she turned off the car and laid her head against the steering wheel. “I’m tired.”
“Do you want me to drive?”
“No.”
“Did you not enjoy the movie?”
“No, the movie was fine.”
“Well, you made a lot of, um, entertaining comments about it.”
“I do that about everything.”
“Are you okay?”
“Just peachy.” She still didn’t move though, and it worried me. Neither of us said anything until she finally looked up, most of the cars were gone, and she drove home. The radio was up really loud to avoid all signs of conversation and I just glared out the window. When we did finally get back to her father’s house and she turned the car off, I figured I should probably do something. Do the thing I have been thinking about for a while. Well, yeah, ever since I bought her the promise ring.
“Are you going to stay mad at me all night?” I asked. She started laughing, even though it was forced at first she made it sound some-what genuine by the end. “I have a surprise for you.”
